The Westin Regina & Europe

The Westin Europe & Regina by www.carlosmeliablog.comThe Westin Regina & Europe  |  Venice, Italy  |  One of my stays while visiting Venice, was The Westin Europe and Regina Hotel. Inside the historic the 17 Century palaces that compose the Hotel, guestrooms and suites are nestled in a setting of relaxed luxury. Outside, the artistic and theatre district surround the Hotel; following Calle XXII Marzo, lined with luxury shops, makes a dramatic entrance to Piazza San Marco. Panoramic water views of Venice from San Giorgio island, across to Pinault’s Punta della Dogana, the beautiful S. M. della Salute Church, and beyond. I loved the location of the property, and of course the stunning panoramic views. I think it is a brilliant location and venue for idilic Venetian Weddings. I had not time nor chance to try any of their dinning venues. Chef Alberto Fol transforms the dining experience at Restaurant La Cusina into an exhilarating rediscovery of traditional dishes from the islands and the mainland. Dine indoors year-round in 3 intimate and welcoming dining areas, characteristic in style and rewarding patrons with unparalleled views across the Grand Canal from large windows and doors. I would define this hotel as a superior four stars hotel.  Continue reading The Westin Regina & Europe

Exploring and Sailing Venice by Riva

Exploring and Sailing Venice by Riva by www.carlosmeliablog.comExploring and Sailing Venice by Riva |  Venice. Italy  |  If there is a perfect way to explore and discover Venice, is by having your own private riva. This is an experience I enjoy very much, and try to do as long as it is available (have done this in the past in Paris along the Seine, Bath, UK on NarrowboatsBangkok, Thailand along the Chao Praya River on luxury rice barges, in Varanasi for the Ganga Arti, Istanbul along the Bosphorus, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico to the Islas Marietas… among many others worldwide. It gives you a different perspective, and without a doubt the Riva is indeed unique and sophisticated experience. As you can see I am a big fan of boats and specially private ones.  Continue reading Exploring and Sailing Venice by Riva

The Gritti Palace Venice

The Gritti Palace Venice by www.carlosmeliablog.comThe Gritti Palace Venice  |  Venice, Italy  |  I would risk to say that The Gritti Palace , by Luxury Collection, has been the best suite experience I have had in 2013. Since we are ending the year, it is worth highlighting this stay I had only a few weeks ago while in Venice. A place of exceptional art and elegance, the restored Gritti Palace retains its reassuringly intimate and familiar feel. Located at Campo Santa Maria del Giglio Square, off Calle delle Ostreghe right in the heart of Venice. Step outside to The Gritti Palace terrace over the Gran Canal and board your own private riva or gondola, off to explore this breathtaking and intriguing destination.  Continue reading The Gritti Palace Venice

24 Hours exploring Rome

24 Hours exploring Rome by www.carlosmeliablog.com24 Hours exploring Rome   |  Rome, Italy  |  So on our last and recent visit to Italy, we arrived to Rome, and literally we had 24 hours to explore the entire city. This was not my first time there, but yes the first one reporting for my blog. So we got in touch with a local tour operator who took care of us from the minute we arrived to the airport, till the moment we left Rome, onwards to our next adventure in the Tuscan Valley and Florence. ANDIAMO Travel was the company we chose for the challenge of discovering Rome, Florence and Venice in only 6 days. After a week and a half of exploring Italy, thanks to the expert local eye, knowledge and expertise of their tour guides, we can say that we DID IT. !!!  Continue reading 24 Hours exploring Rome

Caffe Florian Venice

Caffe Florian Venice by www.carlosmeliablog.comCaffe Florian Venice  |  Venice, Italy  | A must stop and try caffe in Venice, right on Piazza San Marco. I am a huge fan of tea time, and this traditional coffee house delivers premium experiences. Yes I agree, it can be a bit touristy, but if you choose the time of the day to visit, wisely, you will be on your own just like I did. Later on reading and researching, I found my connection to this iconic Venetian coffee house, the Argentinean connection. Caffe Florian was Jorge Luis Borges’ favorite coffee house in VeniceContinue reading Caffe Florian Venice

Rialto Bridge and Market

Rialto Bridge and Market by www.carlosmeliablog.comRialto Bridge and Market  |  Venice, Italy  |  The Rialto Bridge is one of the four bridges along the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy. It is the oldest bridge across the canal, and was the dividing line for the districts of San Marco and San Polo. I came to visit before I lunch at the lovely, recently opened, Aman Grand Canal, which is only steps away. Like Ponte Vecchio is to Florence, Ponte di Rialto is to Venice. This bridge dates to 1181, originally built out of wood, like it was painted  on the Miracle of the Cross at the Ponte di Rialto, also known as The Healing of the Madman painting by Italian Renaissance artist Vittore Carpaccio.  Continue reading Rialto Bridge and Market

Belmond Hotel Cipriani Venice

Hotel Cipriani Venice by www.carlosmeliablog.com
Belmond Hotel Cipriani
| VeniceItaly | One of the most iconic hotels in the world, if there is one. You name it, celebrities, head of states, tycoons, religious leaders, multimillionaires, influencers… all have either stayed of visited, this very first property of Belmond Hotels in the entire world. Yes, indeed, this is where the story of sophistication and luxury all began, hidden in the exclusivity of Giudecca Island, only 7 minutes away, on your own private riva, crossing Venice‘s Grand Canal from Piazza San Marco. And this time, was our time to stay, and enjoy this oasis of finesse, savoir vivre and refinement.  Continue reading Belmond Hotel Cipriani Venice
