Last week, I spent the entire week in Miami Beach and I got to stay and preview the recently inaugurated Metropolitan Miami by COMO Hotel Group. I have stayed with them before, at their sister properties in Bangkok and London, also under the Metropolitan franchise, having great stays. Metropolitan Miami is located in South Beach, off Collins Avenue between 24th and 25th. Only two blocks away from the W South Beach and the SETAI South Beach. Despite the hotel not being right on the water, the property consists on two sections divided by a charming and quiet street called Miami Beach Drive. The building over Collins Avenue is where the main building with the hotel and restaurant is located. The section next to the boardwalk, with direct access to the beach, is where the lovely pool area and outdoor lounge is located. The hotels is already the comment of the town, and is trending on site like TripAdvisor as number one option in Miami.
Yesterday, invited by their General Manager, I got to explore around the new and recently inaugurated VICEROY New York City. An urban retreat, right on 57th Street, located steps away to some of my favorite restaurants in town, and centrally located, for those looking to experience New York City in full and beyond the usual city attraction. Do not be deceived by the look of their lobby, which is tiny, understated and has not much character. The façade is defined by two shoulders – made of iron-spot black brick – that define, frame and ground the building’s front elevation. Over-scaled, fluted, cast-glass bricks march over the building’s twenty-foot storefront. Above this street façade, glazed black brick-and-metal muntined windows continue up the thirty-story building to comprise the bulk of the façade. When lit from within, they create the effect of a glowing lantern. These windows relate the new hotel to much of the traditional, iconic architecture in the neighborhood.
As every year at the Rockefeller Center in Manhattan, here is the Holiday Spirit. Hope you enjoy it. Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.
Thank you Travel Agent Central for quoting me on the breaking news on Hawaii’s Legislation of Same Sex Marriage. …” “The fact that the state Senate of Hawaii passed the Marriage Equality Bill, becoming the 15th state to recognized same sex marriage, will not only boost gay weddings in the island, but also position the destination within the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) segment worldwide,” Carlos Melia of First in Service Travel, an agency based in NewYork, told Travel Agent…” Read more (by Joe Pike).
Obsessed with our darling Suite and the entire look and feel at the recently remodeled The Joule Dallas Boutique Hotel in Downtown Dallas. Taschen Library, Weekend Coffee Store, ESPA Spa, I mean you name it. High Tech Suites and Rooms. And FYI the Triplex Suites are INSANE. !!!!
I flew Aeromexico from New York City to Cancun, to come to Riviera Maya. The experience was, although I flew on Economy, very enjoyable, not to mention that it is such an easy flight. Only in 3 hours, we were landing, early… shocking right, at Cancun International Airport. Member of SkyTeam, therefore you will collect miles with the Delta Airlines group. I flew on a brand new state-of-the-art Boeing 737-800, being the youngest fleet, I would risk to say, flying in between United States and Mexico.
I must say after having seen four shows along the strip during my stay in Las Vegas, last week, I must say this was the one with the least production, and the one with the most excitement and entertaining of them all. Naughty, fun, exotic, erotic, wild and wacky are just a few words to describe this acro-Burlesque cabaret show, recommended only for adults over 18+. Sassy and debauching comedy, sexy cast and wild acts happening merely feet away from the audience. I will let the videos say the rest. TIP is you are black, asian or white, gay or straight…. regardless what you are, be ready to be the center of the jokes, and they are ruthless with a very sharp but funny sense of humor.
Happy to have been invited and considered to attend both the Travel YLC 2013 – Young Travel Leaders Conference 2013, and the LTX 2013 – Luxury Travel Exchange International. Today the LTX International 2013 began, and I have attended several Educational Sessions and meeting with key contacts from the world of Luxury Travel and Hospitality. Last night I went to see ZARKANA, after a previous night of Michael Jackson ONE also produced by Cirque du Soleil, which left me wanting more acrobatics and signature WOW moments. Both the last and newest productions/shows by Cirque. Zark, the ringmaster of an extraordinary circus coming back to life, guides us in an abandoned theatre populated by a motley collection of off-the-wall characters and incomparable acrobats.
So today I arrived to Las Vegas, and right after checking in at my hotel, invited by Cirque du Soleil and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, I got myself to the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino right on time to enjoy my first show while in town. Michael Jackson ONE, is one of the six current productions by Cirque de Soleil, being performed along The Strip. Developed between Cirque du Soleil and the Estate of Michael Jackson.
