Nikki Harrison Speakeasy | Buenos Aires, Argentina | I think tonight, I might have found the best kept secret of Buenos Aires. Speakeasy, honoring the concept behind the door of this quaint New York style Sushi restaurant over Malabia Street in Palermo SOHO. Speakeasy is a word, foreign to Argentina in many ways. But, it has been very well interpreted by Andres, the young owner, of this try to be, quasi exclusive membership club. Continue reading Nikki Harrison Speakeasy
The Bar Downstairs at Andaz 5th Avenue | New York, United States | My new favorite speakeasy spot in Manhattan, The Bar Downstairs by Andaz 5th Avenue. Follow the silver rat to the basement out off 5th Avenue and 41st Street, I mean it is New York after all, and enjoy a lovely evening over great cocktails and tapas.
Lovely Filthy Dirty Martinis, Cellar Door, their signature cocktail and tapas. My favorites, the Octopus Paprika, the Chicken Empanadas and the Orange Beets Salad.
Cellar Door, is their signature drink made out off pimms no. I, lemon, bergamot , syrup, sailor jerry spiced rum, st. elizabeth allspice dram. (USD 15)
Plain and basic, a chic Midtown East bar featuring premium cocktails, fine wines, beer, and a creative menu of shareable Latin-style dishes. Open from Monday to Saturdays. Thank you Fidel for the invite and entertaining me. CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends

Private Cellar at Club 21 by Belmond | New York, United States | I am lucky enough to have enjoy great dinner, cocktails and evenings at Club 21 in New York City. Either having a wonderful meal at the main room, of a glass of champagne next to the fire place during cold winters over lovely conversations. But today, for the first time, following the speakeasy legendary Prohibition-era, I join a very private group of New York leading travel agents, at the wine cellar.
Just walk through the main room, by the iconic Club 21 kitchen, and down to the cellar, to find private stocks of wine bottles under names like Nixon or Elizabeth Taylor, regulars of Club 21.
The special occasion, the official introduction to Belmond newest property, to open soon in Santa Barbara, California (March 18th. 2013), named El Encanto. This iconic hotel is being meticulously restored to capture all the original romance and glamour that endeared it to both the Santa Barbara community and vacationers in search of seclusion and charm. Ninety-two California-style bungalows dot the lush, landscaped gardens with sweeping views of Santa Barbara and the Pacific Ocean. Original architectural features are being lovingly brought back to life, while modern additions include an expansive outdoor swimming pool and beautiful boutique spa. (www.elencanto.com).
We shared a lovely dinner with the management of the soon to open El Encanto, and the Belmond Regional Managing Director for the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. In such a stunning room. Low lights, vaulted walls covered with ancient wine bottles, guarded by our for private waiters.Such an unique experience, to perfectly match what El Encanto promises to offer to their guests from next March 2013 on, with the sophistication and detail that Belmond knows how to do. So stay tuned for more, cannot wait to come an visit, and I have got my invitation already YAYYYY.!!! Carlos Melia Luxury Travel Curator – www.carlosmelia.com

Frank’s Bar in Buenos Aires got your code.? | Buenos Aires, Argentina | Last night, here in Buenos Aires looking for new, fun bars to check out, write about, and have a descent Dirty Vodka Martini… I came across Frank’s Bar in Palermo Hollywood. The concept of Speakeasy bar has arrived to Buenos Aires, and as for my understanding Frank’s is the only and first one doing it. A hidden main gate, a great looking bar and the surprise of a very avant-garde sex shop at the exit, in case you want to continue your night in high standards. The first question you will get is Do You Have the Code?, a concept that has been use and reused all over the world and has got a bit tired by now… but it is making its way in Buenos Aires. How do you get the code… ? Continue reading Frank’s Bar in Buenos Aires Got your code.?
