Weekend relaxed mode in style at Belmond Maroma Resort | Riviera Maya, Mexico | October for me was all about Riviera Maya, twice in one month. First to attend ILTM Americas, with an extension of a two nights stay at Hotel Esencia. And this last one, invited by Belmond Hotels, Journeys and River Cruises to Belmond Maroma Resort, as part of the founding members of their LGBT Advisory Board. I have been to Belmond Maroma Resort, countless times, and each time I check out, I make sure to plan for my next visit. My luxury weekend in Punta Nizuc | Cancun, Mexico | Here some images of my luxury weekend at NIZUC Resort & Spa, hosted by LGTNetwork. This was my second time at this resort and spa, located at the private area of Punta Nizuc, a complete different experience to Cancun. Located only fifteen minutes away from Cancun International Airport. This time I was hosted at one of their lovely Penthouse Suites, located at the Residences Towers. Some of the great activities during my three days visit were, 5-Steps Mexican imbued gourmet dinner at the Chef’s Table at RAMONA Restaurant. Paddle-Boarding along the coast of Punta Nizuc and the mangroves. Paddle board yoga, over the green crystal waters of Nizuc Bay. Spa treatments and hydrotherapy cycle at their spa by ESPA. Cocktails and starters at Terra Nostra Restaurant, follow by a full dinner at Indochine, including options from all corners of Asia. Fantastic Peruvian lunch, with gorgeous beach views at Ni Restaurant. Private party hosted by Cartier to launch their arrival of the new collections to Mexico. And many many more. You can read one of the article that has already surface by one of my fellow travelers, joining our group @ A luxury Mexican resort designed with LGBT travelers in mind by Cameron Lee. Thank you to all the team at NIZUC Resort & Spa, and to LGTNetwork – Luxury Gay Travel Network. Continue reading My luxury weekend in Punta Nizuc
NIZUC Resort & Spa | Riviera Maya, Mexico | I have to admit, I have never been a fan of Cancun, and most of the times I have visited Riviera Maya, I have gone to Maroma Beach and up, like Tulum. But I think, the new NIZUC Resort, has changed my mind, and I would consider a pre/post experience at Punta Nizuc. The rumor says, the original plan was to create residences by Aman Resorts, but the project was stopped. Mexico based hospitality group Brisas took over and develop the project in full. Funny enough, the moment I stepped foot into the property, my first feeling was ” Mexico meets Asia” and question was, … was anyone from Aman Resorts or COMO Hotels involved into this project, and funny enough in some way they were. Mexican Cooking Master Class | Riviera Maya, Mexico | One of the many activities you can experience and do, during your stay and visit to the very lovely Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa, is the Mexican Cooking Master Class, by the charming and fantastic Executive Chef Juan Pablo Loza. Learn the secrets of traditional Mexican gastronomy from the Executive Chef. Return from your vacation a master of Mexican cuisine. The cooking class took place outdoors at a traditional Mayan Villa, within the premises of the resort. That same night, I also join Chef Juan Pablo, to the Chef Table honoring Special Guest Fashion Designer Rubin Singer, and let him lead me through a feast of flavors in a delectable tasting session. Specially selected dishes represent the very best of Mexican cuisine. Bon Appetite a la Mexicana !! Belmond MAROMA Resort and Spa | Riviera Maya, Mexico | One of the best stays and travel experience I have had this 2013, was the three days I spent at the very lovely Belmond MAROMA Resort and Spa, approx. thirty minutes away from Cancun. And when I say away from Cancun, I mean it…. a total different exclusive sophisticated relaxing experience. Former private residence, set in deep jungle beside pristine white sands, this now Belmond Resort, is a magical Mayan escape. Only three hours away from New York City, it is yet, another perfect sunny luxury getaway from the US. As I always say, I have for many years been very exceptional about Mexico as a destination in full, but this years after my experiences in Riviera Nayarit and Riviera Maya, I have fully changed my mind. Late enlightening lunch in Tulum | Riviera Maya, United States | A few days ago, after touring around COBA Mayan Archeological Site and swimming in at the Tamcach Ha Cenote, I was taken to one of my favorite spots in Riviera Maya, as it is Tulum. Such a lovely small town. Basic and understated, still quaint, charming and full of energy and mystery. I was taken to this gorgeous cottage right on the beach of Tulum, with stunning views of the ocean, Zamas Restaurant, to be defined as rustic chic. Now the enlightening surprise was my private meeting with Maria, a local Shaman. For those of you who are not acquainted with this term, a Shaman is anybody who contacts a spirit world while in an altered state of consciousness. I spent over 3 hours by local Mexican dishes and Soles Beer, talking to Maria and learning about her spiritual techniques and planning a future trip back to Riviera Maya, to try real Mayan healing and spiritual journeys. For those of you interested to learn more about this subject and contact Maria, do not hesitate to let me know. Visit Tulum, you will THANK ME.!!! Mayan Archeological site of COBA | Riviera Maya, Mexico | COBA or as the Mayas used to call it Kob-Ha (Turbid Water) is located only about 44 kilometers (28 miles) inland from the shores of the Riviera Maya. It’s a direct shot to get there from Tulum but from Cancun or Playa del Carmen you need to take a less than direct route. Not the most popular or visited by tourist, which gives you are more up-close and personal experience. Also, unlike Chichen Itza, at COBA you are still allowed to climb to the top of the main Pyramid, with stunning panoramic sights of the site and the COBA Lake. A few interesting facts at COBA are: The city was founded in three occasions, being the first in between 100 – 300 BC. Coba is open all year round, daily from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
