ULTRA Electronic Party Buenos Aires 2013

ULTRA Electronic Party Buenos Aires 2013  |  Buenos Aires, Argentina  | So of course, last night, right off the door steps of my plane with LAN Airlines, my best friend Laurencio Adot calls me and gets me to the VIP Tent at this massive electronic party in Buenos Aires called ULTRA umf, happening last night and again this weekend. He was invited by PR Leo Matheu for the local magazine GENTE (aka. people version of Argetina) and Absolut Vodka.

Located at Puerto Madero, Dique I, featuring Swedish House Mafia’s Final Performances on both weekends, the return of Carl Cox & Friends and ASOT 600 to the Megastructure, and many more. The 15th Edition by far the most elaborate production and lineup to date!
Stayed with him chit chatting with models, producers, and celebrities in general for a few hours till the exhaustion from my flight plus the time difference cought on me. On top, I realized that I do not quite enjoy much this parties without my boyfriend anymore. But ALWAYS a treat to spend time with my BFF Laurencio, TOP couture fashion designer of South America.

FAENA Hotel & Universe soon to have a sister property

FAENA Hotel & Universe, one of the most trendy and chic hotels of the city of Buenos Aires will soon have a sister property this time by the hand of renown international designer FOSTER. The chosen name ” ALEPH ” Residences and Hotel. (click here)
This brand new and exciting project will come to complete and compliment the original concept, which was started 6 years ago by the FAENA Group together with the designer Philippe Starck, in a way creating a before and after in the hotel business of the city of Buenos Aires. The hotel will follow the same concept of the FAENA Hotel & Universe, with a format of 50% Private Units and 50% Hotel Rooms all linked by common areas and services. The project was scheduled to be complete 2 years ago, but due to the economical turmoil, this was postponed till now. The hotel is planned now to be ready and operative in less than 2 years, first with the private units and then with the hotel.

But that’s not all…. they are launching the brand new Los Molinos building and the FAENA Art District, once again providing Buenos Aires with a more international and cosmopolitan allure. The complex of Los Molinos is a multispace with private residential units, offices, a spa with fitness center and an exclusive and luxurious space for congresses and events.

FAENA Group is not the only one still interested on milking this trendy and virgin area of Buenos Aires. Hilton and Four Seasons had also explore and developed to their own benefit. But there are more new neighbors coming to town… St. Regis is opening their first South American property and Alvear Palace Hotel, will have its own third luxurious venue in town. New airs are coming to Puerto Madero. !!!

Buenos Aires Architecture Tour

Buenos Aires Architecture Tour |  Buenos Aires, Argentina | Buenos Aires holds a valuable, striking and suggestive architectural heritage. Inspired by international patterns and combined with the local tendency of free reinterpretation, Buenos Aires architectural scenery results in a wide and eclectic building legacy. This tour highlights the most outstanding features focusing on the descriptions and how they are related to the city’s history. The sites to be visited are: The financial city (from colonial times, passing by monumental bank architecture from the belle époque, to the Banco Hipotecario, impressive brutalist jewel from the 1960s). The second area to be visited is Avenida de Mayo (seeing, among other buildings, the former headquarters of La Prensa newspaper, café Tortoni, Barolo palace, Chile hotel, former headquarters of Crítica newspaper, National Congress). We end the tour at the postmodern and controversial area of Puerto Madero, seeing the buildings by some of the most important international architectural celebrities, such as Calatrava, Pelli, Foster and Viñoly.
Important note: although the tour focuses on façades, we always enter some of the buildings to see distinctive features (La Prensa building, Barolo palace, Faena hotel; and, depending on the time, a few of the banks, too).
The transport leaves us at Microcentro, where we walk for about half an hour. Then we drive along Avenida de Mayo, stopping for a one-block walk. Then we take Belgrano Avenue, with one small stop to see the Otto Wulf building, into Puerto Madero. Once in the area, we stop at the Faena hotel, then driving along Juana Manso Avenue, stopping again at the Fortabat Museum and walking two blocks along the river coast with excellent views of Catalinas towers, the Yatch Club and the brick old storehouses. Length of the tour: 03 hours daily Tour Class: Private.  Check my FULL Buenos Aires Photo Album on Flickr.CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends
