Imperial No 9 at the Mondrian SOHO Hotel | SOHO, New York | OMG yes I keep eating and eating my way through New York City, and I have to admit it I love it. Well drinking too.!!! ha ha ha. But when you come to a restaurant decorated with such modern taste, surrounded by a fun and trendy crowd and to top it all they have a great variation of Tapas and wine, then for me that is the key for success. If you worry for the Gay meter of this restaurant, trust me IT IS VERY FRIENDLY, actually the photo you see above was set for a group of over 15 gorgeous guys in their 30s. Got that right, so get hold of your smartphone ready to check in into Facebook places, Foursquare and every other social network that will reveal your exact location in style. What I love about this space is that it is a glass wall tent right in the open, and as the sun goes down and the candles and chandeliers light up, it turns into a magic and beautiful room. You may also choose to seat at the more private area inside the main building. Imperial N0. Nine is part of the Mondrian SOHO Hotel. At the highly anticipated Imperial No. Nine, located just off the lobby, Chef Sam Talbot introduces his sustainable seafood concept with a 150-seat restaurant. A long bar serves as a casual imbibing spot with a selection of handcrafted cocktails by John Lermayer, for which Morgans Hotel Group’s nightlife destinations are famous. The garden building at Imperial No. Nine boasts a timeless setting complemented by an elegant crystal chandelier collection and accented with potted plants and natural ficus trees, all beneath the shelter of a dramatic glass roof. The delicate, over-sized glass sculpture centerpiece, crafted by acclaimed artist Beth Lipman, serves as a reference to Cocteau’s story in which seduction takes the form of an elaborate feast, prepared nightly. Mondrian SOHO Hotel | New York City | I just came back from the brand new Mondrian SOHO Hotel in New York City. The hotel opened last Tuesday Feb. 22nd, so this is a brand new option in Manhattan. The hotel is still undergoing some minor final touches, but so far looking fantastic. Loved the formal restaurant Imperial No. Nine by Chef Sam Talbot although I am not a huge fan of communal dinning tables, which in fact are a signature of Mondrian’s restaurants. The garden building at Imperial No. Nine boasts a timeless setting complemented by an elegant crystal chandelier collection and accented with potted plants and natural ficus trees, all beneath the shelter of a dramatic glass roof. Very sexy and modern style by Benjamin Noriega Ortiz with bright blue colors, inspired into the movie “La Belle et la bete”. My overall rating: Great design and style. Hip and modern. A restaurant I would choose myself to dine any night. Now my only concern is the size of the rooms that even for New York standards might fall a bit on the small side. Other than that I recommend and endorse the Mondrian SOHO. Some cool features to point are: iPad in every room (this is the way you can contact your concierge, order Room Service, interact with the staff of the Hotel, and interact with other in New York if you know what I mean. The Views of almost all the rooms, regardless the room type is fantastic.
270-room hotel will feature an indoor-outdoor bar and restaurant offering layers of experiences from a lush enchanted garden to informal social seating. Inspired by the Jean Cocteau Film, “La Belle et la bete”, the hotel will seduce and inspire guests through distinct environments from the lobby courtyard to the jewel-box rooms. Chef Sam Talbot will introduce his interpretation of modern day east coast seafood and the bar will offer a selection of handcrafted cocktails.
Mondrian in SoHo evokes a provocative fantasy that translates to every detail of the guest rooms. Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz creates a seductive experience that begins from the Crosby Street entrance of the hotel and continues throughout to the “Sleeping Chambers”. The corridors leading to the rooms feature a grand carpet with a custom, rose vine design, large antique mirrors and crystal sconces. Upon opening the door to the guestroom you will find yourself in an elegant foyer-entrance with rich marble floors, leading to the bright, loft-like space. These “Sleeping Chambers” are appointed with a custom built in chrome desk, facing the city skyline. The vanity doubles as a wet bar and the bathing chamber is sequestered behind jewel-toned doors. White beds are flanked by chrome night tables and floor to ceiling, glass windows reveal spectacular views of downtown. The hotel is located in between ChinaTown and Little Italy, over Crosby Street just steps away from Broadway Avenues and Canal Street subway “6” station. Amenities by (Malin+Goetz) in every room. Also every room has its own crystal bar which I think is a nice touch of sophistication. As I mentioned before, each room comes with it own iPad. Standard Room (King) 190 sqft/ 17.65sqm. Superior Room (Queen) 220 sqft/20.44sqm. Superior Room (King) 239 sqft/22.20sqm. Deluxe Room (Queen) 243 sqft/22.58sqm. Deluxe Room (King) 239 sqft/22.20sqm. Suite King Bed 319 sqft/29.64sqm. All rooms come with complementary access to the Fitness Center by Equinox. WiFi is at an extra charge of USD 10 per day.
