Belmond MAROMA Resort and Spa

MAROMA Resort & Spa by www.carlosmeliablog.comBelmond MAROMA Resort and Spa  |  Riviera Maya, Mexico  |  One of the best stays and travel experience I have had this 2013, was the three days I spent at the very lovely Belmond MAROMA Resort and Spa, approx. thirty minutes away from Cancun. And when I say away from Cancun, I mean it…. a total different exclusive sophisticated relaxing experience. Former private residence, set in deep jungle beside pristine white sands, this now Belmond Resort, is a magical Mayan escape. Only three hours away from New York City, it is yet, another perfect sunny luxury getaway from the US. As I always say, I have for many years been very exceptional about Mexico as a destination in full, but this years after my experiences in Riviera Nayarit and Riviera Maya, I have fully changed my mind.  Continue reading Belmond MAROMA Resort and Spa

Late enlightening lunch in Tulum

Late enlightening lunch in Tulum by www.carlosmeliablog.comLate enlightening lunch in Tulum  |  Riviera Maya, United States  |  A few days ago, after touring around COBA Mayan Archeological Site and swimming in at the Tamcach Ha Cenote, I was taken to one of my favorite spots in Riviera Maya, as it is Tulum. Such a lovely small town. Basic and understated, still quaint, charming and full of energy and mystery. I was taken to this gorgeous cottage right on the beach of Tulum, with stunning views of the ocean, Zamas Restaurant, to be defined as rustic chic. Now the enlightening surprise was my private meeting with Maria, a local Shaman. For those of you who are not acquainted with this term, a Shaman is anybody who contacts a spirit world while in an altered state of consciousness. I spent over 3 hours by local Mexican dishes and Soles Beer, talking to Maria and learning about her spiritual techniques and planning a future trip back to Riviera Maya, to try real Mayan healing and spiritual journeys. For those of you interested to learn more about this subject and contact Maria, do not hesitate to let me know. Visit Tulum, you will THANK ME.!!! Swimming inside Cenotes

Swimming inside Cenotes by www.carlosmeliablog.comSwimming inside Cenotes  |  Riviera Maya, Mexico  |  Cenotes are a natural pit, or sinkhole resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes ground water underneath. Used by the ancient Maya for sacrificial offerings. There are many of them all over Riviera Maya, but we visited one of the three located in the area of COBA only minutes away from the archeological site. There you can swim, enjoy the lovely caves and if you dear, try some jumps. Cenote water is often very clear, as the water comes from rain water filtering slowly through the ground, and therefore contains very little suspended particulate matter. The term derives from a word used by the low-land Yucatec Maya, “Ts’onot” to refer to any location with accessible groundwater. This could very easily become a new sport for me, Cenoting.!!! CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends  Continue reading Swimming inside Cenotes

Swimming with Dolphins in Riviera Maya

Swimming with Dolphins in Riviera Maya by www.carlosmeliablog.comSwimming with Dolphins in Riviera Maya  |  Riviera Maya  |  This was my afternoon here in Riviera Maya. I had the great experience, for second time in my life, to swim in direct contact with Dolphins. It is such an amazing experience, to spend time from them and see how they behave, react and interact. I will let the images do the talking of course, all I have to say on this matter, specially in this region of the world, is to choose the right Aquarium and company to do this type of experiences. This is my advice. !!! Do not fund companies that mistreat animals. All it takes is just a little research, to be mindful and to put our grain to help. For this I came to Dolphin Discovery Riviera Maya. One of the few 63, out of over 360 Aquariums worldwide, certified by Alliance – www.ammpa.organd with professional IMATA Trainers – www.imata.org. My experience was to float around the Dolphins and enjoy an hour around them. This was a priority to me before doing this experience. Their Riviera Maya location was just 10 minutes away from my hotel the Belmond Maroma Resort. Although it is located over the beach, the experience takes place inside a huge Ocean fresh water pool.
