A first overnight stay at a Ryokan at Kanamean Nishitomiya by Relais & Chateaux

A first overnight stay at a Ryokan at Kanamean Nishitomiya by Relais & Chateaux  |  Kyoto, Japan | One of my all time travel bucket lists and dreams, was to stay at a traditional Japanese Ryokan. So when I planed my visit to Kyoto, I made sure that my first night would be spent at one. The one I chose was the Kanamean Nishitomiya by Relais & Chateaux, one of the ryokans which have survived in the modern surroundings of downtown Kyoto. This is the report of my overnight stay indulging in Japanese tradition of hospitality. Early morning in Tokyo for an up-close SUMO Wrestling Training Session  | Tokyo, Japan | During my last trip to Tokyo, other than the traditional visit to the Tuskiji Fish Market, the SAKE Tastings, and Tea Ceremonies, one of the most interesting tours I took, was an early morning up-close real SUMO Wrestling Training Session. Expect lots of sweat, tears, screams and yes… some blood. It is indeed a very intense and up-close experience. You may see all my photos and videos from my recent trip to Japan at my Instagram @carlosmeliablog  Continue reading Early morning in Tokyo for an up-close SUMO Wrestling Training Session

Korean BBQ at Kang Suh Restaurant

Korean BBQ at Kang Suh Restaurant  |  New York, US  |  I cannot ever get enough of Korean BBQ nor Saporo Japanese Beer. During my last trip to Philippines, a few years ago, I was introduced to both Korean BBQ and Shabu-Shabu and since then I have become addicted to it. One of the bests spots in New York for this, is right in the heart of Manhattan on 32nd street, on the little street between 5th and 6th Ave which is known as Little Korea.
We had a lovely evening along with Rubin, Candice and Jason. Not going to get into detail of what we had, because to be fully honest we had SOOO MUCH that I totally lost track of it. More about Kang Suh at www.kangsuh.com. And do not be fooled by the nice corporate photos, Kang Suh is more real and down and dirty, just as it should be right, specially on the second floor. Daily flights within Thailand and to/from destination like Cambodia, Brunei, China, India, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia just to mention some of them.
