Pineapple symbol of Hospitality

20111018-204225.jpg
Pineapple symbol of Hospitality | Did you Know | I guess everyday we lear something new, you just need to ask. Since I have got to England, I have been seeing pineapples everywhere, yes you read right, pineapples… and mostly associated to very high-end brands. Today while having my pre dinner cocktail, the silver tray had a pineapple inscription, so I there to ask. Excuse me, what’s the meaning of the Pineapple.? Well this is what I found out by the expert comments of my buttler at Hartwell House. Pineapple has been, since Christopher Columbus, a treat of the Kings mostly in the renaissance of Europe. The concept of hospitality, the warmth, charm and style with which guests were taken into the home. Rare pineapple, was a true celebrity, measured by its rarity, espense and attractiveness. Therefore to be welcomed and offered to share this exclusive fruit, would express by all means a sense of good cheer, human warmth and affection. Now I know why Hesto Blumenthal uses a pineapple as the logo of his restaurant Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, or why my friends and colleagues at Pineapple Hotels, have chosen this name. AFRICOLOGY Amenities

AFRICOLOGY Amenities  |  Africa  |  Africology skin care products have been developed to revitalise the skin and prevent damage done to the skin by free-radicals, stress and the harsh African climate. Almost every hotel or camp we stayed in Africa, had now this products, including the Orient Express hotels and camps. Travellers are becoming more and more informed when it comes to ingredients and beauty trends, and it is imperative for a hotel to offer their clients an amenities range that is both green and luxurious. The Liberty Hotel in Boston

The Liberty Hotel in Boston |  Boston, United States |  The Liberty Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is without a doubt a true gem of Boston, right at Beacon Hill with panoramic views of Charles River Basin and the Longfellow Bridge, one of the premium areas of this fantastic city. Now what makes The Liberty Hotel unique, is that originally this was the old Charles Street Jail, which after extensive $150 million acquisition, renovation and construction process, marrying historic architecture with the high standards of refined, modern travel, The Liberty Hotel has become New England’s premier luxury destination. Certainly I would not mind at all to be locked down to serve prison for a long period at The Liberty Hotel. Continue reading The Liberty Hotel in Boston

Gee how did that Towel end up in My Suitcase.?

20110410-072848.jpgGee how did that Towel end up in My Suitcase.? | New York Times Travel by Sara J. Welch | Great brief note on this Sunday’s Travel section, on how three hotels – Miami, Honolulu and Manhattan – which preferred to remain anonymous are cutting costs on Linen and Towel theft by implementing a Linen Technology Tracking system. A washable RFID Chip that can be sewn into towels, robes and bed sheets, allowing hotels to keep track on their linens. Reported savings by the Honolulu property of USD 16,000 per month. Gee I hope they do not implement the same with bathroom amenities, pens and pencils or otherwise I am in BIG trouble. CM

Holiday Inn Galleria Hotel

Holiday Inn Galleria Hotel | Manila, Philippines |  coming to Manila and looking for a comfortable, affordable and well located hotel. Then take a look at the Holiday Inn Galleria. Located in Pasig City, just right next to the Shopping Mall.

The hotel is basic, but well located, clean, offering free access to the Gold’s Gym. Outdoor Pool area, multiple restaurant options, both at the hotel and in the Mall. My favorite was the central location, the views from the rooms (try to book high floors), the gym and the full buffet breakfast. CM

DOME Hotel – Bariloche, Argentina

DOME Hotel, rustic boutique mountain hotel ( San Carlos de Bariloche, FREY Mountain Refuge, Catedral Mountain ). I was amazed by this hotel, not only by the obvious breathtaking views… but by the unique of its concept. A rustic mountain themed hotel/tent located on the stream of the lagoon of FREY Refuge.

After walking for almost 4 hours from the base of Catedral Mountain to the top at FREY Refuge, you would never expect or believe to find a hotel there. Well YES there it is…. !!! And on my next trip to San Carlos de Bariloche, be assured that I expect to spend a night there, enjoying the clear sky views and bonding with the local people.

Prices are very low, including diner and breakfast. Bookings in advance are EXTREMELY suggested, since at the moment there is only one tent available. Plans to add extra rooms are in the near future. For bookings do not hesitate to contact me.

House of Jasmines

House of Jasmines |  Salta, Argentina | Member of Relais Chateaux. Located outside the city of Salta close to the domestic airport, surrounded by mountains and Tobacco plantations. The perfect landscape to enjoy the relaxation, service and gastronomy of this House of Charme, that you will not want to leave. Picture (above) of the suite where I stayed courtesy of the management of House of Jasmines.

Video (above) of the Junior Suite. Check also House of Jasmines Deluxe RoomHouse of Jasmines Superior Room. The difference with the Junior Suites and Suites are that these are located within the main house, while the Suites are all scattered around the property, allowing extra privacy to their guests. All rooms share the same common areas and restaurant, which gives a special touch and feeling during the breakfast, tea and dinner time when all guests gather and interact.

La Table of House of Jasmines is characterized by its fresh cuisine, homemade style, with traditional dishes and meat such as lamb, mountain kid or the typical Argentine asado. In order to make sure food is fresh, the vegetables, fruits, green vegetables and herbs that we use are specially grown in our orchard and gardens around the House of Jasmines. The northern gastronomy style, with its tamales, humita (flavored corn paste wrapped in corn leaves), and other regional flavors are present in our options so that you can get to know the secrets of Northern Argentina cuisine guided by the Chef. You can enjoy your meals in the different rooms available in our house. The dining room, with a single, big table, is a cozy place with all the charm of a family meal where all the guests share the same space. The table close to the large window, facing the mountain range, allows you to enjoy a magnificent, relaxing view of the landscape. The Winter Garden has its own magic spell: a bright area with flowers where the candles at night add a romantic touch. You can also choose the balcony, or the garden, overlooking the park that surrounds the Estancia and where you will be provided with blankets and hot water bags so that you can enjoy the countryside air feeling comfortable.

The Living Room, a place where you can take a rest watching Salta’s mountain range. Special care for details and decoration, matched with the Northern tradition with style and comfort, make of this space a cozy room to rest in front of a fireplace, over which there is an imposing nickel silver mirror.

The Winter Garden, a unique, magical area. Predominantly white with cow leather on top of the tables and with the smell of the seasonal flowers and fruits that bathe the whole house, the Winter Garden is a fresh, bright place to enjoy either in the morning, afternoon, or evening.

Enjoy the heated pool outdoors overlooking the imposing landscape of Salta’s Mountain Range.

The Spa de Charme is a 300m2 space separated from the main house and devoted to relaxation and well-being. Here you can recharge your energy choosing from an array of treatments and massage therapies we have designed to harmonize and purify your body and soul. Equipped with Dry Sauna, Hammam (steam bath), three cabinets and two relax rooms, the Spa offers treatments such as Princesa Inca (Inca Princess), Amanecer salteño (Salta’s daybreak), Flores para un rey (Flowers for a king) or Cinco sentidos (Five Senses), that use minerals and herbs from the region to help you recover your calmness and freshness.
