My stay at the elegant Belmond Governor’s Residence redolent of Yangon’s colonial past

My stay at the Belmond Governor's Residence in Yangon MyanmarMy stay at the elegant Belmond Governor’s Residence redolent of Yangon’s colonial past |  Yangon, Myanmar  |  A romantic, colonial-style mansion dating from the 1920s, Belmond Governor’s Residence is redolent of the days when it was home to the ruler of Myanmar’s southern states. This was my home for two nights, during my first time – long overdue –  visit to Yangon (formerly known as Rangoon), largest city of Myanmar. Belmond Governor’s Residence is located within the elegant Yangon Embassy Quarter and close to the spectacular Shwedagon Pagoda. It is just ten minutes from the city centre and 30 minutes from Yangon airport. See and follow my full Instagram Photo Gallery on Myanmar… Continue reading My stay at the elegant Belmond Governor’s Residence redolent of Yangon’s colonial past

Khlong touring in Bangkok along the Chao Phraya and beyond

Khlong touring in BangkokKhlong touring in Bangkok along the Chao Phraya and beyond |  Bangkok, Thailand  | On a very hot and humid day, it was quite lovely to go on for a long sail onboard a long-tailed speedboat, along the Chao Phraya River and later penetrate the life along the khlongs of Bangkok, enjoy the breeze and every so often a cold splash of water. Our tour began right at our host hotel, the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, and from there we went on for approximately 3 hours. This is one of my many visits to Bangkok, but indeed the first time doing the tour of the khlongs, which gives of a totally different perspective of life in Bangkok in the banks of the river and its canals. See and follow my full Instagram Photo Gallery on BangkokContinue reading Khlong touring in Bangkok along the Chao Phraya and beyond

A matured comeback to Mandarin Oriental Bangkok

Mandarin Oriental BangkokA matured comeback to Mandarin Oriental Bangkok  |  Bangkok, Thailand | My first stay at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, or iconically known as Oriental Bangkok, was over 4 years ago. At that time I was a different person, looking for different type of experiences, as it has happened organically through out all my personal and professional life. At that time, perhaps, ranked low as my favorite experiences in Bangkok, but after my recent stay, at my 41 years of age, I have to say it was simply PERFECTION. After countless times being in Bangkok, I have grown a deep love for the Chao Phraya River, and how it defines the nature of this destination, and to stay at a hotel at the streams of this charismatic feature, was something I would have never looked for before, and today I truly appreciate. So I guess we can appropriately say, that Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, it has taken some time, but it has grown in me, to be come I would say, my top choice when visiting Bangkok. See and follow my full Instagram Photo Gallery on BangkokContinue reading A matured comeback to Mandarin Oriental Bangkok

TANNAT the Uruguayan Grape ?

TANNAT the Uruguayan Grape ? |  Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay  | Tannat is a red wine grape, historically grown in South West France in the Madiran AOC and is now one of the most prominent grapes in Uruguay, where it is considered the “national grape”. It is also grown in Argentina, Australia, Brazil and in Italy’s Puglia region where it is used as a blending grape.Tannat wines produced in Uruguay are usually quite different in character from Madiran wines, being lighter in body and lower in tannins. It is also used to make Armagnac and full bodiedrosé. In France, efforts to solve the harsh tannic nature of the grape lead to the development of the winemaking technique known as micro-oxygenation.  Continue reading TANNAT the Uruguayan Grape ?
