GPS Carlos Melia back in Manhattan | New York, United States | Hi there mates, I am back in FREEZING New York City, after a short amazing stop in Miami Beach. This time, other than reviewing and sharing restaurants and other tips from the city, I will be staying and reviewing the following hotels: The Mark, Gramercy Park Hotel, Yotel, The Michelangelo and Sofitel. So stay tuned. !!!!! And again in the video above, you can see me in the East side of Manhattan, over Sutton Street and York and the Queensboro Bridge across the East River. Cheers CM
GEMMA Trattoria at The Bowery New York • It is great to have local friends that know the city up and down, specially when you are in search for a great Italian evening, I mean a real one. Well my friend and colleague Frances, took me to this amazing but still humble and very affordable restaurant at The Bowery. From the minute you walk in you can feel the italian heritage and spirit flying all over the room. Plus if you are lucky enough, or you know Frances, you will get Lucca to wait on you and use his sex-appeal and italian charm to make you believe that you have chosen your full courses for the night, when in fact you were just nodding to everything he said and suggested. Antipasti & Crostini: Buffalo ricotta and Pesto Crostini (USD 06) and Burrata Caprese (USD 12). All very well match with a local Pinot Grigio wine. Main Courses: We shared first the Risotto of the day with Scallops and Shrimp and then as Secondi the Branzino al Forno, roasted Mediterranean sea bass on cedar with sauteed green beans (USD 24). GEMMA Trattoria is located right next to the Bowery Hotel (335 Bowery, New York City – Tel. 212.505.9100). It is open daily for breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner, cocktails and desserts. But this was not our case… no desserts since we moved next to PEELS right off Bowery. But you will read about that later on today. FYI this evening started at the Gramercy Park Hotel by Ian Schrager, with drinks at the exclusive Rosebar hosted by The JG Black Book of Travel Collection and the Flemings Mayfair Hotel.
