My Street Food obsession in Thailand

My Street Food obsession in Thailand  |  Thailand  |  You all know by now that I have a big Street Food obsession, specially here in Thailand. Since I will be leaving soon, I am on a mission to stuff myself with as much Thai food as I can, and indeed I am pretty damn good at doing that. This time was minced Chicken Balls on my way from Pattaya to Bangkok. I kept seeing those all the time during my time here in Thailand, and was never quite sure what they were, and now I do. Koh Samet Island in the Gulf of Thailand

Koh Samet Island in the Gulf of Thailand  |  Koh Samet, Thailand  |  A must visit, either for the day or overnight. When I told the concierge of my hotel that I was coming, he said …” Carlos, you should at least stay one night to experience the island in full…”, unfortunately that was not  possible, but now that I have seen it, I fully agree with him. Located on the Gulf of Thailand, it offers a great value option for those on the budget or with not enough time to explore other options on the gulf or the Andaman Sea. Only 4 hours away from Bangkok by car and ferry, and 2 hours from Pattaya. (find the full Flickr Photo Album below). Continue reading Koh Samet Island in the Gulf of Thailand

Hotel Check IN at Siam Bayshore in Pattaya

Hotel Check IN at Siam Bayshore in Pattaya  |  Pattaya, Thailand  |  One of the things you must make 100% sure when you visit to Pattaya, is to find a hotel that will guarantee you comfort and cleanliness, access to main areas, a nice outdoor pool, and most important quietness away from the night scene and craziness of this party town. I personally think that the beach options in Pattaya are not the best in the Gulf of Thailand, and not even close to those on the Andaman Sea, but I understand, it is indeed a great option for those travelers on the budget, those with only a few days to explore Thailand, and more so for those looking to party and had a great time. So choosing your hotel based on the beach location, I would say it is irrelevant. I chose the Siam Bayshore Resort for multiple reasons, over Pattaya Beach and only a few blocks away from the pier and the famous Walking Street. I have been to their property in Bangkok, the Siam City Hotel and I had a great experience, so that made me fully comfortable to stay with them. Carlos Melia LIVE from Koh Samet Island

Carlos Melia LIVE from Koh Samet Island  |  Koh Samet, Thailand  |  Escaping from all the craziness of Pattaya, which I must say although being a very much fun destination, it is not my type of idea of a relaxing time at the beach. So I did some research on my options around this area, and thanks to the recommendations of a few local friends and the concierge at the Siam Bayshore Hotel, I came up with two options Koh Samet and Koh Chan. Being Koh Samet the closest one to Pattaya, and THB 1200 after, I was on my way to this beautiful island in the Gulf of Thailand. Continue reading Carlos Melia LIVE from Koh Samet Island
