Elephant Polo is my new thing | Golden Triangle, Thailand | You might say, Carlos is Argentinean, therefore Polo carries on his veins… but how about going a bit further, bigger and taller… how about Elephant Polo. It sounds quite eccentric right. Thanks to the Four Seasons Tented Camps Golden Triangle in the northern region of Thailand, I can say this this my new thing. Those of you following my blog regularly, know my weakness and devotion for Elephants, so I was quite intrigued and happy when this activity was proposed to me on my last visit to the camp. Interview Golden Triangle Asian Elephants Foundation | Golden Triangle, Thailand | Dear followers, yes I am alive and back. Been away for a few well deserved days, at the Golden Triangle in the north of Thailand – Lanna District – at the fabulous Four Seasons Tented Camps. You know me, when I camp I do it in style. The Golden Triangle is located in the border between Laos, Myanmar and Thailand, and for the last few years, thanks to Four Seasons and two other main foundations, has served as the refugee and paradise, for elephants rescued from the streets of Bangkok. Both Mahouts and elephants were given a second chance, and this is one of the main areas in Thailand, to come and experience living up close with the elephants. See my brief interview with John Roberts – Director of Elephants for Golden Triangle Asian Elephants Foundation. Also visit and give your support to Think Elephants International. Congratulations and my full support in all the great work they are doing. Carlos Melia Luxury Travel Curator – www.carlosmelia.com

Time to pass it around and share this amazing story. I read it last year during my trip to Botswana, such a magical way to explore the cradle of life. I would have never expected that months after I would be living with the Elephants in the North of Thailand. This book taught me so much about them to the point of tears. Loyalty, love and life in general. I am happy to pass it to someone I know will enjoy and cherish it as much as I had – The Elephant Whisperer by Lawrence Anthony

Hey King Juan Carlos, this is the only way you should hunt an elephant, with your camera. Typical example that money and power does get you away from being an IGNORANT. Your apologies will not get them back. Now I wonder, WWF isn’t it Elephants hunting and poaching illegal ? Why is King Juan Carlos still the President of the WWF Spain Chapter?. Is he going to get away with it just because he is part of a falling monarchy ? Funny enough today I read an article, where it says that since the numbers of Elephants are increasing, then it is legal to kill them… Watch out people, if we start increasing our numbers, then it will be also legal to kill one another. Shame on you King Juan Carlos, Donald Trump…. who is next ?
Did you know that there are many organizations around the world, which are helping to protect the elephants, and you can help.? One of them, which I have visited 2 times is in the Northern of Thailand, supported by Four Seasons Hotels and it is called Think Elephants International. And you can help them support them too. Keeping and elephant in great conditions costs an average of USD 3000 a year, and you can adopt your own elephant or help with many of them. I am trying to adopt Thong Kham, so if anyone wants to help PVT me. !!!!! Lets turn this AWFULL shameful news into something much better. CM
Thong Kham and Carlos Melia reunited again | Golden Triangle, Thailand | This is now a true love story. After 4 month of being apart Thong Kham and Carlos Melia reunited once again at the Four Seasons Tented Camp at Golden Triangle in the border between Thailand, Myanmar and Lao. One look at the other, she put her trunk over my head and sniffed me around, after that we looked each other in the eye and we instantly bonded again. Memory of elephant right. This was my morning in love with Thong Kham. Continue reading Thong Kham and Carlos Melia reunited again
Monsoon Wine and Vineyards of Hua Hin Hills | Hua Hin, Thailand | Today I spent my full morning and afternoon exploring the wine region of Hua Hin Hills in Hua Hin, Thailand. They people from Siam Winery, pick me up at my hotel and drove me for 25 minutes to their stunning vineyard, to spend a day tasting local Thai wines, great tasty modern tapas and bonding time with my friends the elephants. I mean, where else that in Thailand can you explore a vineyard on the back of an elephant ? Just priceless experience. And also, who would have thought that Thailand can compete internationally with other top wine regions in the world. Continue reading Monsoon Wine and Vineyards of Hua Hin Hills
Golden Triangle to Chiang Mai Full Day Tour | Thailand | So this morning I started very early on what it would turn to be a brilliant day exploring the areas of Golden Triangle, Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. All was seamlessly planned by the Four Season Tented Camp Golden Triangle, for my transfer to my next destination Chiang Mai. Instead of doing a regular four hours transfer, they hosted me for a full day of highlights, attractions along the rice fields and towns of the northern region of Thailand.
