Thong Kham and Carlos Melia reunited again | Golden Triangle, Thailand | This is now a true love story. After 4 month of being apart Thong Kham and Carlos Melia reunited once again at the Four Seasons Tented Camp at Golden Triangle in the border between Thailand, Myanmar and Lao. One look at the other, she put her trunk over my head and sniffed me around, after that we looked each other in the eye and we instantly bonded again. Memory of elephant right. This was my morning in love with Thong Kham.

I know I know, I have been a bit lazy lately not working much on my blog, but the truth is that while hosting the first ever US and Canada LGBT Press and Travel Professionals groups to Thailand, I have not had much time left. Right now waking up at the amazing Four Seasons Tented Camp in the region of Chiang Rai. That is why I am heading back for another month of adventures and to spend my birthday there on the Orient-Express Train from Bangkok to Singapore. Four Season Tented Camp Thailand | Golden Triangle, Thailand | If there was a hotel I visited in 2011, that went above and beyond any expectations, was the Four Seasons Tented Camp at Golden Triangle in the northern region of Thailand, right on the border with Lao and Burma. On my way to the airport to take my @bangkok_airways flight from #Phuket to #Krabi. GMorning #Thailand…”, as I normally do, to keep everyone up-to-date of my whereabouts and then headed off to Phuket International Airport. Innocently and unaware of the power of Social Media and the excellent CRM – Customer Relationship Management, that both airlines and hotels master in Asia. I was fully stunned by what happened next.

Hall of Opium at Golden Triangle | Golden Triangle, Thailand | One of the many attractions of the Golden Triangle area, in the northern region of Thailand, is without a doubt the Hall of Opium, created in 1988 by Princess Mother on her desire to educate people on the background of opium in the Golden Triangle and elsewhere in the world. The Golden Triangle, infamous worldwide for its poppy fields, drug smugglers, and opium warlords. Throughout the three decades, the Golden Triangle supplied most of the world’s heroin. Even today, Myanmar and less so the Laos PDR produce significant amounts of opium. The Hall of Opium was created to help reduce demand through education.

Cockfights still legal and popular in Thailand | Chiang Rai, Thailand | Yet today a very popular sport in Thailand, that not only takes the attention of many locals and tourists, but also makes some people lots of money. Since I arrived to Thailand, I have been interested on these beautiful baskets, which I thought were for fishing or something like that. Today my tour guide explained me the real use of them, that the fanaticism of locals for watching roosted (cocks) fight.
The White Temple Wat Rong Khun
The White Temple Wat Rong Khun | Chiang Rai, Thailand | As campy as it can be, same is beautiful and impressive. I have not seen, ever before, a temple like this. It does look like the set for the next Narnia right… but it is a full operational Buddhist and Hindu temple. The white color stands for Lord Buddha’s purity; the white glass stands for Lord Buddha’s wisdom that “shines brightly all over the Earth and the Universe.”
