Just another beautiful Summer Day in New York | Battery Park & Chelsea Piers, New York | Saturdays and Sundays are usually the days I take to myself, during the summer, to go running along Chelsea Piers, Hudson River Park and Battery Park, from 25th Street to the World Trade Center and back. During the four years that I have been already in New York, I have seen so much change and improvement in this area, with a focus on health, sports and outdoor activities, something that living in Big Apple, for many reasons you learn to cherish, use and abuse. Pier 54 getting ready for Gay Pride NY | New York, Chelsea Piers | And the count down began. The tents are up, the stage is being built and the trucks are on the pier unloading the music and light system, for next weekend Dance on the Pier 2011 event. Dance on the Pier takes place right after the Gay Pride MARCH which takes place along 5ht Avenue from 36th Street ending at Christopher & Greenwich Streets. And this year it promises to be HUGE being the unofficial rumors around, that Gay Marriage will be approved in New York during the course of next week. AIC Buiding – New York, Chelsea | New York, United States | The IAC Builidng, a true landmark of the Chelsea Piers was designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, and completed in 2007. The early sketches of the building date from 2004. But the DID YOU KNOW.? fact of this building is: Did you know that he inspiration for the design of this iconic building was to resemble the actual form of the iceberg that caused the sinking of the TITANIC. Chelsea Piers is a series of historic piers on the West Side of Manhattan in New York City that was a passenger ship terminal in the early 1900s that was used by the RMS Lusitania and was the destination of the Titanic. The piers are currently used by the Chelsea Piers Sports & Entertainment Complex. The new complex includes film and television production facilities, including those for CBS College Sports Network and Food Network, a health club, a day spa, the city’s largest training center for gymnastics, two basketball courts, playing fields for indoor lacrosse and soccer, batting cages, a rock climbing wall and dance studios. In addition there is an AMF Bowling center, a golf club with multi-story driving range, and two full sized ice rinks for skating.
