A night out in Bangkok from Luxury to Underground

A night out in Bangkok from Luxury to Underground | Bangkok, Thailand | A night in Bangkok, can begin and end in so many ways…. I am sure you all have heard the stories coming from deep in the Sois. But I have been there and done that, and what I do these days, is to repeat those I have enjoyed the most over the years, and open to discover new ones by the hand of my dear local friends. This was the case of my first night in Bangkok a few days ago, which began in full luxury and molecular Dirty Vodka Martinis at the legendary and recently renovated Bamboo Bar, at the iconic Grand Dame of Bangkok, the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. 1-Altitude Singapore

1-Altitude Singapore by www.carlosmeliablog.com 1-Altitude Singapore  | Singapore  |  One of the classics when you visit Asia, is to find the most amazing rooftops bars. Like KU DE TA at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, or Sky Bar and Vertigo Moon Bar in Bangkok, Thailand. Well this time, hosted by the team at AUDI Fashion Festival, we visited 1-Altitude Bar, where we had our own table and were afterward escorted to the VIP lounge. Nikki Harrison Speakeasy

Nikki Harrison Speakeasy by www.carlosmeliablog.comNikki Harrison Speakeasy  |  Buenos Aires, Argentina  |  I think tonight, I might have found the best kept secret of Buenos Aires. Speakeasy, honoring the concept behind the door of this quaint New York style Sushi restaurant over Malabia Street in Palermo SOHO. Speakeasy is a word, foreign to Argentina in many ways. But, it has been very well interpreted by Andres, the young owner, of this try to be, quasi exclusive membership club.  Continue reading Nikki Harrison Speakeasy

Morandi & Omar’s La Ranita

Morandi & Omar's La Ranita by www.carlosmeliablog.comMorandi & Omar’s La Ranita | New York, United States | Fabulous evening last night in West Village, New York trying two fantastic venues I would strongly recommend. The sophisticated, sexy chic and exclusive private rooms at Omar’s La Ranita, over Filthy Vodka Martinis and great company. After that, onwards to a classic Italian dinner at Morandi Restaurant w/ Rubin Singer. Just priceless TGIF in Manhattan. CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends

O2 Lounge at Ritz-Carlton Moscow

O2 Lounge at Ritz-Carlton Moscow  |  Moscow, Russia  |  One of the best views of the Kremlin and Red Square, can be enjoyed while zipping a Vodka Martini and a nice tray of Sushi at the 12th floor of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Moscow. So we came today for lunch and spent over and hour and a half mesmerized by the views of Moscow.
Our table was facing right to the Kremlin and Red Square. Since it was a rainy day, it was quite nice to see the color of the dark sky compliment the colors of the square and the fortress. During summer time, and for some special occasions during winter, like New Year’s Eve, they use this terrace as a lounge and cocktail area.
My first course, of course a Dirty Vodka Martini and a traditional very tasty Miso Soup. Chef Seiji has created an original Pan-Asian concept that unites healthy cuisine, contemporary interior design and impeccable Oriental service.

Second and last course, a tray to share of assorted Sushi options. Lunch was rather instructive, where I learnt that soaking your sushi into too much Soy Sauce is consider by Asians as an offense and bad manners, so now you know… go easy on the Soy.
Probably I would recommend trying O2 Lounge during the late afternoons and evenings, rather than lunch time. Views will be spectacular regardless, but I feel that during the late hours, O2 Lounge will have more ambiance, happening and sex-appeal. Nevertheless I truly enjoyed my lunch today. Green tea to finalize a lovely lunch experience, before heading to a full site inspection of the hotel. CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends

Panoramic views and coffee at Ateljee

Panoramic views and coffee at Ateljee  |  Helsinki, Finland  |  Located on the rooftop of the Torni Hotel tower, is Ateljee Bar and Cafe, featuring the best aerial panoramic views of Helsinki you will get. Maybe bordering the touristic trap side, with prices a bit too high, but totally worth it for the featured 360 degree views. Do as I did, come for a quick coffee, photo moment and leave. Isabel B. de Ferari Favorite BAR in Buenos Aires

Isaberl B. de Ferrari, known among its regulars as ISABEL is my new and favorite bar in the city of Buenos Aires. Door to door with the famous and trendy Casa Cruz Restaurant in the up and always coming neighborhood of Palermo SOHO. ( Uriarte 1664 )
A mix between decadent, exclusive, trendy and chic would define this bar, where I would risk to say has a 80% straight / 20% gay crowd, but where the general rule is don’t ask don’t tell…. and the key is to have fun and mingle. Anyhow the rumors are that Thursdays are ranking high on guys night out, if you know what I mean.
No cover fees. Great drinks with, to my preference , a bit of a complicated but original system, that will have you buying your Drink Tokens at the main entrance with the concierge of the bar. Average drink rates around USD 15.
Pre Dance for many, parking place for others…. nevertheless a great spot to begin your night with friends, open to interact with locals and internationals. If you, like me, try to avoid the late nights out, but still enjoy a drink with funky Disco Remix and cool crowd, then Isabel is a MUST SEE and DO of Buenos Aires’ night . CM
