Coolest Sunday Brunch at Yotel New York | New York, United States | Continuing with my posts on the trendy and funky development of the far West 42nd Street, today I came to one of my favorite hotels in New York, the Yotel to try their Sunday Brunch, hosted by Patrick Duffy. Just have to say that it will from now on be a keeper in my list. Great mixed crowd, fun, relaxed, not attitude... Heard that Chelsea Brunch restaurants NO ATTITUDE. I pay and they treat you like a customer. USD 35 all you can eat and drink Brunch.

Best kept travel Beauty tips revealed | South Africa | One of the things that I enjoy the most while travelling around the world, more than the experiences is the global learning process over multiple subjects. Learning and educating myself over this matters, right from the source, it is priceless. Beauty, health and skin-care, are not an exception at all, and I am an addict of new tips and treatments, especially since I have become inmune to Botox, ha ha ha sad right, and age is setting over me. The othe day an Editor for a very well know LGBT publication asked me ... Carlos have you found the fountain of youth... Of course he was miles away chatting on his laptop without seeing me face to face, addressing to some of the photos on the article that DNA Magazine recently ran on me. I replied to him, the key is to have a great relationship withthe Editor and Art Director of the Magazines, so they make sure that the photoshop looks amazing and all your body part are back in place.

Four Season Tented Camp Thailand | Golden Triangle, Thailand | If there was a hotel I visited in 2011, that went above and beyond any expectations, was the Four Seasons Tented Camp at Golden Triangle in the northern region of Thailand, right on the border with Lao and Burma. How about combining the best of Four Seasons signature luxury, style and customer service, with the exuberant beauty of the bamboo jungles of Chiang Rai province in the outdoors, surrounded by a local Elephants camp, Burmese chanting monks in the mornings and serene waters of the Mekong River. How would I define and summarize this experience, simply like this... train to become a Mahout, live with the elephants in full luxury, enjoy all-inclusive adventures, spoil yourself at their full service outdoor spa and dine like a king or queen.

The OUT NYC | New York, United States | Well it seems that West 42nd. Street area in between 10th and 11th Avenue (aka. Hells Kitchen), has lately been getting a lot of attention and happening. First the avant-garded Yotel, which I personally reviewed last week and loved, the new luxury apartments complex MiMA, and now the soon to open The OUT NYC Urban Resort which already is looking very promessing and happening. The project is forecasted to open March 2012, so we will have to wait till then to see how it develops, looking forward to stay over to review it in full. Formerly to be Axel Hotel New York, today member of the Genre Hotels group, which I must say after over 20 years in this business have never heard of, but excited to learn more about. But this is not all this complex has to offer, big names are already part of this project and others to join soon. The OUT NYC hosts New York's most highly anticipated nightlife venue XL Nightclub featuring already well established and classic events like Rock It by Fonabaiovoss and iconic New York night scene names like John Blair. Today I was briefly introduced to XL but this weekend I was invited to come and check the venue in full action, but I can say that already got my attention, a slick venue with a nice central bar and dance floor in the back. So stay tuned for more. CM

FREE WiFi for everyone a lesson to be learnt by Hotels worldwide | New York, United States | More and more hotels across the world are becoming more savvy and proficient in the use of Social Media and Social Applications. The big question that always raises to this still brand new technology, which many pretend to master, but only a few truly understand, is how to measure the ROI - return on investment. As I travel the world, staying at all types of hotels, I have had multiple experiences with the internet service, which most of the time can be very annoying, where hotels yet don't understand that internet is one of the top features guests will take into consideration, at the moment of booking their stay. The worst examples during last year travels, were hotels in London, UK and Jaipur, India, where I was shocked with my bill upon check out with charges over USD 40 x day for a lousy crappy connection that would take me over 10 minutes to upload a single photo. On top of that, most hotels do not offer the Multi Device Connection platforms, and travelers like me, we need to at least to connect three devices, such as Laptop, iPhone and iPad, meaning three times the charges. The recently open cutting edge and modern Yotel in New York City, has grasped this concept and finally proved that what I have been telling hotels for the last two years, was indeed a great idea, first and for most to please customers, and second, to self promote their properties and services making use of the different techniques on online advertising and viral effects.

GPS Carlos Melia at Yotel New York City | New York, United States | Just Checked IN at my Premium Cabin at Yotel New York. I am fully fascinated by the concept and style of this hotel. Luxury cabins with full five-star services, avant-garde design and technology, a great location for a very affordable price. Where Mission Control is their version of a Concierge Desk, fully automated Check IN, a robot that stores your luggage and a real Dohyo is the restaurant and bar. I will be posting more upon departure, but I wanted to share this with you all, since I found it to be the coolest affordable hotel option in New York City. where you won't jeopardize quality and service for price.

The Mark Hotel New York City | New York, United States | I have just checked OUT from the beautiful and charming exclusive boutique hotel The Mark. If there is a way to describe it is... full class, welcoming, happening, fashionable and chic. 1927 landmark building at the corner of 77th Street and Madison Avenue. Designed by Jacques Grange and with impeccable service under the perfectionist eye of luxury hotel manager Olivier Lordonnois, The Mark combines old-world comfort, avant-garde design, the latest technologies and an unprecedented level of personal service to create the finest five-star hotel of the 21st-century. I have been in New York for over seven years, and I must say that I always stick to the same hotel preferences, although The Mark is not just a hotel, it is a whole experience of great taste and class.

Travel Agent Central quotes Carlos Melia about Thailand | Travel Agent Central | On their recent travel update about Bangkok, Thailand, by Meagan Drillinger, they published the article "Bangkok is Back" including a few quotes on my own travel experiences during my two month of travel in Thailand, just at the same time that the floods were affecting some areas of the country. “I left Bangkok a few days ago, and I am happy to say that the city has gone back to the normal mode. Travelers are back, hotels and restaurants are looking crowded again, and the streets of Bangkok don’t show the sand bags that we have seen over the last few weeks. Bangkok is DRY and SAFE.” shared Carlos Melia

Windy and a bit chilly, but still beautiful day to do what I always do while in South Beach, running at the boardwalk by the shore line, that goes from 47th. Street to the heart of Ocean Drive. I got off my eight hours flight from Buenos Aires, checked in at the stunning Setai Hotel and got ready for a night out in SOBE, after all is MLK - Martin Luther King long weekend and everyone was out despite the chilly weather. URGE Party is the new party in SOBE with DJ Abel (MIA) and Eddie Martinez (NYC) spinning to a sold out venue. Lots of fun, although I decided to call the night early to catch some rest. I spent there the last 2 nights and here are a few comments based on my own experience.
