My bespoke Tuxedo tailoring experience by RUBINSINGER

My bespoke Tuxedo tailoring experience by RUBINSINGER My bespoke Tuxedo tailoring experience by RUBINSINGER  |  New York, United States |  Getting ready for my upcoming trip to San Francisco, to assist the Mid-Winter Gala 2015, I came to RUBINSINGER Studio in New York to have my new Tuxedo tailored by two master bespoke couture designers, Rubin Singer and his father, Alik Singer. Alik is the former designer of the Circus of Moscow and the Bolshoi Theater. I am not stranger to wear bespoke tailored Tuxedos by Rubin Singer in Bangkok and Cannes. Such an unique and interesting experience, spending the morning along Alik Singer, having my measurements taken, picking the fabrics, the lining, the shape…. and seeing and learning the full process, behind-the-scenes of a Tuxedo made-to-tailor in New York. Apothéke Mixology and Prescriptions

20130825-122712.jpgApothéke Mixology and Prescriptions | New York, United States | Inspired by the history and rise of the apothecary in Europe as well as the artistic influence of absinthe dens in 19th century Paris, Apothéke is the first of its kind. The entire experience from wandering down a hidden street to find the entrance, to tasting the first sip of a specialty cocktail made with exotic herbs and fruits – is a privilege. I have only experienced such take on mixology before at The Alchemist in Manchester, UK.
20130825-122855.jpg At Apothéke, the presentation of a cocktail is just as dramatic as the cocktail itself. The bar is no longer a bar. It’s a stage. A chemistry lab. A theatre. A unique-shaped Austrian crystal glass is carefully selected for each cocktail, and into it, is poured a beautiful, jewel-colored liquid. This is much more than a cocktail bar – this is a cocktail apothecary.
20130825-123147.jpg My choices for the night, three of them… Well two different cocktails, and one repeat ha ha. Call me crazy but anything that has cilantro and is combined with ginger and the word Buddha in it, I am down with it, so two of those drinks were a Sitting Buddha, Absolut Vodka, Lemongrass, Fresh Pineapple, Cilantro, Ginger, Lillet Blanc, Lime, Skin Tincture. And then one The Matador, Olmeca Altos Reposado Tequila, Bell Pepper, Cantaloupe, Habañero Bitters, Pink Peppercorn, Sea Salt Rim.
20130825-123300.jpgJust arriving on the taxi and going by Doyers St alley and seeing all the cool people walking by and around looking for the little door, right in the heart of Chinatown, with the trash truck wondering around, the low lights and smells classic of this neighborhood, and all of the sudden walk through the door, after you make it through the invitees list… WOW just so many flashbacks on my late fun nights in Asia in Hong Kong, Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Thank you Anthony and Denise Vasi. Best of luck at the VMAs tonight, and check the red carpet for some Rubin Singer moments. CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends

GUERLAIN Spa at the Waldorf Towers

GUERLAIN Spa at the Waldorf Towers  |  New York, United States  |  Yesterday, getting ready for the gala dinner I was assisting, at the 24th GLAAD Media Awards, I decided to pamper myself getting a nice facial at the fabulous GUERLAIN Spa, located within the stunning and iconic Waldorf Astoria Hotel, although I must admit, spoiled me, ha ha ha, I always come by the more exclusive side, by the Waldorf Towers, on 50th Street. The experiences I would define it as customization, luxury, emotion, and sensuality.
The experience was beyond relaxing, quick and very chic. I was in a rush, running from work appointments to get ready to head to the gala dinner, so my therapist in a very professional way, took care of me in form and time. The room was well set, perfect temperature and ambiance. The bed was very comfortable and had its own heating system. All the products used were of course by Guerlain.
Guerlain Spa offers a wide array of therapies for men.  Take time for yourself to relax and invigorate.  Treatments include; Deep Tissue Massage, Waldorf “As You Wish” Massage, Ultimate Experience, Scalp Massage, Energizing Facial, Skin-Saver Facial, Nail Treatments and more. Every pampering experience at the Guerlain Spais transformed into a unique and personal occasion, performed with expertise and exceptional virtuosity, setting a tone of instant tranquility and creating a journey of personal transformation. Their aestheticians begin each treatment with a systematic analysis and precise skin diagnosis to reveal your individual beauty and well-being profile. They gain understanding of your essential concerns to tailor a treatment according to your needs and your expectations. I went for a 50 minutes Energizing Facial. Give your skin a boost! Uncover a fresh complexion through deep cleansing. Exfoliation, massage and mask, coupled with a complimentary eye treatment, create a more radiant, smooth and luminous skin. (approx. USD 195 ). King Cole Bar at St Regis New York

King Cole Bar at St Regis New York  |  New York, Untied States  |  Rumored to be one of the best Bloody Marys in town, I had to get down there and try them myself. So I did. !!!! Along with my client Kathryn, we planed a date, perfect opportunity to meet for her to tell me everything about the last trip I planned for her and her family down to Argentina and Uruguay. 6.30PM sharp we were both there, looking smashing and thirsty.
Enjoy an aperitif in this legendary society club where the Bloody Mary — here known as “Red Snapper” — first landed in America and was perfected. Maxfield Parrish’s masterpiece King Cole mural keeps watch on hotel guests and knowledgeable New Yorkers. If you are a fan of bar, cocktails, great ambiance, sophistication and overall a charming speakeasy, them you owe yourself a visit. I think we counted 3  Bloody Marys each, not sure if the are the best in town, but they are pretty damn good.CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends
