UBER App Everyone’s Private Driver

UBER App Everyone’s Private Driver  |  Travel Apps  |  Being such a crazy week here in Paris, with Fashion Week, I was looking for the best option to book cars while on the run. So I asked around among hoteliers and concierges and they all agreed that Uber App was the best solution. Uber is your on-demand private driver. Request a ride at any time using our iPhone and Android apps. Request from Anywhere at Any Time. Tell them where you want to be picked up and they will show on the map the closest options for you. They’ll dispatch the nearest driver to pick you up. You’ll also receive a text with the estimated arrival time. When the car arrives, you’ll get another text. Hop into the sleek black car, tell the driver your destination, and you’ll be on your way. Of course this taxi will cost 15% extra than a regular taxi, but . This service is available now at 20 locations in the United States, Europe and Canada.  Service is pretty much available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, coverage can be slim between 1am and 4am on weekdays. Leave your CASH at home, when you sign up to UBER you will be requested your full credit card info, which is stored into their database, and each time you confirm and used their services, this will be charged directly and seamlessly to you card. Check it out on iTunes. Don’t drink and drive.!!!  CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends

Travel like a local the other side of GRINDR

Travel like a local the other side of GRINDR  |  Grindr  |  Some of you know Grindr as the forbidden word, others as the leading global dating and/or hook up site, but more and more people are finding Grindr to be the best way to connect with other locals, when traveling around the globe, to get the expert inside take, recommendations and tips on where to go out, dine, hang out, what is hot and trendy…etc. A smartphone application to connect on a all-male location-based social network. Grindr, which first launched in 2009, has exploded into the largest and most popular all-male location-based social network out there. With more than 3.5 million guys in 192 countries around the world — and approximately 10,000 more new users downloading the app every day — you’ll always find a new date, buddy, friend or local expert advise on Grindr. Quick, convenient, and discreet. And it’s as anonymous as you want it to be. Grindr is a simple app that uses your mobile device’s location-based services to show you the guys closest to you who are also on Grindr. How much of your info they see is entirely your call.

I travel around the world trying to discover what is new and hot at each destination I go, and I have found Grindr to be and ally and one of the most reliable sources of information when traveling to new unexplored destinations worldwide, looking for the unbeaten path on where to have a great local meal, what bar is the most happening, which is the best hotel, or which party is taking place on a Tuesday night. Example of this, are the messages I get all the time from members around the globe, welcoming me to their destinations and offering to share their tips with me to better feature their destinations. The new generation of virtual interactive travel guides and companion. Download it for FREE and grind your way away. CM

BTW Grindr for the first year has announced the Grindr Gay Travel Awards 2012 in Florinopolis, Brazil, at the IGLTA‘s Annual Global Convention and here you can see the results.  So without further adieu, the envelope, please… Read more

My first experience on a BUS in New York

My first experience on a BUS in New York | New York | Today I felt adventurous and decided to take for the first time ever the BUS in the city of New York. I know New Yorkers, for you this might sound as a silly post, but for tourists coming from all over the World can be a valuable TIP. I went from the Guggenheim Museum to the Rockefeller Center. Yes it takes longer than the subway, but you get to see the city while you travel. So visitors, this is an alternative inexpensive way to move around the city.
You may use your MTA Card, Day Pass or Ticket, same as you do with the subway, since the way the public transportation system is design in New York City, is that Buses are the extension of the subway lines and vice-versa. TIP. for those users of SmartPhones, download the NYC MATE App . This application is the ultimate NYC companion. It has every neighborhood map, bus maps for all boroughs and of course… THE OFFICIAL SUBWAY MAP WITH TRAIN TIMES from Google Transit.

Visa and Health Information

Visa and Health Information | by Carlos Melia | Have you ever been in the situation of having to travel to a foreign remote country, and having to spend hours browsing the web and reading tedious documents trying to just get a final – updated and official word of if either you DO or DON’T NEED a Travel Visa whether you are traveling for pleasure, business or else. ? Well now technology, internet and applications have made it much easier, even Travel Agents and Experts like me. Over a few of the resources I have used over the last few month, either for me own travels or for clients, I find the following the most accurate and easy to use.
oneworld – Visa and Health Information page is a very complete and easy online resources. Complete the form for information on travel documents and health warnings for your travel destinations based on your personal details.
Travel Visa Shake for iPhone (USD 0.99 on iTunes) is a great application for your smartphone. Want to know if you need a Visa to travel to a foreign country? You may also check your Visa status for traveling to other countries by using our Visa “widget.” To find out if you need a Visa to travel to a foreign country simply choose your country of origin and the country to which you wish to travel and shake your phone. If no visa is required the result will appear in green. If a visa is required, the result will appear in red and you can simply click the link provided to VisaHQ.com where you can apply for your visa on-line. It’s easy!
Travisa is the FREE Application options. The only problem is that currently this only provides information for those native from: United States, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Sweden, United Kingdom. With the Travisa Visa App for iPhone®, you can access detailed information on travel visa requirements for over 200 countries and passport services directly on your iPhone, even when you don´t have internet access. The Travisa Visa App is great for frequent international travelers and international travel managers who need to know country visa requirements fast, and don´t want to wait until they have computer internet access.
