Salt Terraces of Maras

Salt Terraces of Maras  |  Sacred Valley, Peru  |  Located approximately 30 minutes away from Ollantaytambo and/or 40 kilometers from Cusco, you will find Maras. The town is well known for its nearby salt evaporation ponds, in use since Inca times. Pisac and the outdoor Market

Pisac and the outdoor Market  |  Sacred Valley, Peru  |  Písac is a Peruvian village in the Sacred Valley on the Urubamba River. The village is well known for its market, which nowadays takes place every day, but most visited and crowded on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. A true Andean village market. It is the door to access to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the citadella of Machu Picchu and the Wayna Picchu. Drinking CHICHA at the Markets of Ollantaytambo

CHICHA at the Markets of Ollantaytambo  |  Urubamba, Peru  |  Chicha is a term used  for several varieties of fermented and non-fermented beverages, many derived from maize, sometimes flavored with different fruits and vegetables. Some also have it with alcohol. Mine was non-alcoholic made out of Quinoa. I came to Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley, and asked Abel, my local guide, to take me to the market to try original homemade Chicha. And here you go.
