Raffles Singapore my absolute favorite | Singapore | During my last visit to Singapore, I have the chance and pleasure to visit twice the very lovely and charming Raffles Singapore, which I must admit, is so far my absolute favorite hotel in Singapore. Unfortunately since I was being hosted by AUDI Fashion Festival, we were staying at another property, but from now on Raffles will be my option in Singapore. Their approach to hospitably is …” True luxury is not just about what you do, it’s about how you feel…” and that is what you feel and experience when you walk into this first and original property by the Raffles group. For over 125 years Raffles Singapore has been the place to stay in this thriving city. Elegant and colonial in feel, its generous proportions create a sense of calm and space.
The night we arrive to Singapore, we enjoyed a fantastic India buffet at Tiffin Room, one of the fifteen featured restaurants at the hotel. Tiffin features authentic Northern Indian specialities including vegetarian curries for the non-meat diners. An I will soon be posting more on this. But this was my first impression of this iconic hotel, and I instantly fall in love with its architecture, ambiance and charm. Seeing the hotel at night, was a complete different, experience from what I would see the following morning. I am very happy I’ve got to enjoy both.
The following morning I came for breakfast, followed by a two hours site inspection of the property. The legendary Palm Court, the white marble colonnades and the unique air of romantic grandeur transport you back to a more elegant age, while the seamless service, contemporary technology and attention to detail is completely of our time. Liveried Sikh doormen usher guests through an ornate wrought-iron portico into a lobby that seems unaltered from the turn of the century. Stroll the polished teak verandas past tropical gardens to suites with an elegant parlour, period furnishings, a bedroom that leads to a dressing room and en suite bathroom. Luxuriate in the history, in the scent of frangipani in the evening, in the Raffles Spa, or order room service from the legendary Raffles butlers.
Fair and faithful to my editorial lines, since I did not stay at this property, something I will fix in future visits, I will only post the photos take during my visit, and point some highlights of this property. Immortalised by writers including Somerset Maugham, Rudyard Kipling, Ernest Hemingway and Alfred Hitchcock, Raffles is the perfect place from which to explore Singapore. Located onBeach Road, Singapore close to the financial hub of this entrepreneurial city, Raffles makes business a pleasure, a luxury of leisure – and any visit an indelible memory.
Raffles Grill, exudes and aura of timeless elegance sets the tone for the hotel’s formal dining room. Beautifully restored to its former glory, with French windows overlooking the Palm Court, Raffles Grill captures the true essence of fine dining. A blend of classical and contemporary French cuisine, the menu at Raffles Grill is light and innovative. To complement the exquisite menu is a wine list featuring an extensive selection from the hotel’s celebrated wine cellar.
Long Bar, home of the Singapore Sling, the down to earth décor of this two-storey bar was inspired by the Malayan plantations of the 1920s. In addition to almost every alcoholic and non-alcoholic concoction imaginable, the bar also serves traditional pub favourites that are available as a meal or snacks.
