This wasn’t my first time in Peru – for work or leisure – I have been many times, but indeed was Rubin‘s first visit, and I mastered a well curated itinerary, that would take us from Lima, to Cusco, Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley, in a natural flow enjoying the services of all our hosts… Well, unfortunately not all came along as planned. Belmond Hotel Monasterio | Cusco, Peru | Cusco’s most traditional luxury flagship hotel, located right beside the lively central square. A former monastery and national monument dating from 1592. This delightful Belmond hotel combines its centuries-old charm and ambience with luxury hotel service, inspired restaurants and boutique rooms and suites. This was my first stop and overnight during my visit to Cusco and Sacred Valley, such a magical destination, only matched by the beauty, peace and sophistication of this property with an unique blend of Spanish and Inca heritage. LIMO Restaurant a meal with a view | Cusco, Peru | Fiery red, green, yellow, orange and violet; those are the colors of aji limo, the star ingredient of Peruvian cuisine that identifies the restaurant named in its honor. LIMO was the first restaurant I chose for my lunch in Cusco, and I am so glad I did. Not only the food was just what I wanted, including a great traditional Ceviche, but the views over Plaza de Armas is breathtaking. I could not help gazing through the windows, looking at the domes of the churches and wondering what adventures would await for me in Cusco after my meal. LIMO stimulates visually and arouses the palate with its sensuous flavors. Follow my Instagram Peru Photo Gallery for more tips, photos and videos. Continue reading LIMO Restaurant a meal with a view
Cusco perfectly shaped as a Puma | Cusco, Peru | Did you know that Cusco was the capital of the Inca Empire, and it was built in between the Huatanay and Tullumayo rivers in the exact perfect shape of a Puma. Incredible right.? The puma represented earth, the middle level between the condor (heaven) and snake (underworld). Continue reading Cusco perfectly shaped as a Puma
Belmond Palacio Nazarenas | Cusco, Peru | Set in a tranquil plaza behind Cusco’s main square, this former palace and convent is emerging from years of restoration to become one of the city’s most exclusive hotels. The newest global Belmond property in the world and their fifth hotel in Peru (which BTW I have tried them all). In search for all of this and more, I came over and spent my last fabulous night in Cusco, before heading back to New York, after a week lo luxury, unique experience and sophistication in Peru made by Belmond Hotels and Trains. Horseback ridding and lunch at HUAYOCCARI | Sacred Valley, Peru | Visiting a local hacienda (aka. ranch) at the Sacred Valley, is a MUST do. Nestled in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, at km 64 of the road-Urubamba Cusco, access to enjoy a landscape surrounded by fields of corn, eucalyptus forests and Pisonay trees. The privileged location of the ranch house, makes the views of the Sacred Valley unique. Its location is strategic because it is equidistant from the towns of Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero. You can see the video below, a bit out of breath due to the hight altitude and the movement of the horse. Follow my Instagram Peru Photo Gallery for more tips, photos and videos.
