24 Hours exploring Rome

24 Hours exploring Rome by www.carlosmeliablog.com24 Hours exploring Rome   |  Rome, Italy  |  So on our last and recent visit to Italy, we arrived to Rome, and literally we had 24 hours to explore the entire city. This was not my first time there, but yes the first one reporting for my blog. So we got in touch with a local tour operator who took care of us from the minute we arrived to the airport, till the moment we left Rome, onwards to our next adventure in the Tuscan Valley and Florence. ANDIAMO Travel was the company we chose for the challenge of discovering Rome, Florence and Venice in only 6 days. After a week and a half of exploring Italy, thanks to the expert local eye, knowledge and expertise of their tour guides, we can say that we DID IT. !!!  Continue reading 24 Hours exploring Rome

Kayaking Salt River in Sonoran Desert

Kayaking Salt River in Sonoran Desert by www.carlosmeliablog.com Kayaking Salt River in Sonoran Desert  |  Phoenix, Arizona  |  This morning at 8AM I was picked up by John my expert outback guide by AOAArizona Outback Adventures, and we drove for almost 45 minutes East from Phoenix along McDowell and Superstition Mountains and the stream of the Salt River and the Sonoran Desert as the background, to reach Salt River Park, starting point of our Kayaking in Arizona experience.

Float down the Lower Salt River on a guided kayak tour or guided rafting trip and discover a scenic and relaxing desert oasis. While drifting on this class 1 river you are surrounded by spectacular, unobstructed 70-mile views into 4 different mountain ranges. Flowing from the mountains in Northern Arizona, the Salt River is captured by four dams and released for use by Phoenicians and farmers year-round.

A reliable source of water, the Salt River attracts a variety of wild life, making it common to enjoy close encounters with animals enjoying their natural habitat. Some favorites include; groups of wild horses ambling along the riverbanks, Great Blue Herons and the majestic Bald Eagle hunting for prey.

Kayaking Salt River in Sonoran Desert by www.carlosmeliablog.comSuch a relaxing and rewarding morning, learning about the Sonoran Desert, local native Americans, the desert ecosystem, while floating and paddling along the Salt River. Won’t take you longer than a full morning, and if you choose booking the option which includes transfers in/out, you will be back at your hotel before lunch, unless you really enjoy the outdoors and opt for the full day option. Josh, my guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. I went for the private tour option, but prices for the regular tours start at USD 100 per person on. MUST Try. CM @ Carlos Melia Recommen

Rainbow Russia great inbound Tour Operator

Rainbow Russia great inbound Tour Operator  |  St Petersburg, Russia  |  During my last and first visit to Russia – St Petersburg and Moscow – I had the chance to run across and try the services of Rainbow Russia, the LGBT subdivision of Anastasia Travel, the first one member of the IGLTA. The headquarters are based in St Petersburg, but Anastasia personally can assist you plan trip and tours both in St Petersburg or Moscow. So she did with me… a full day private tour with our own guide on a private Mercedes Benz car of St Petersburg, including highlights like Yusupov Palace, Hermitage Museum, Pushkin Town and Catherine’s Summer Palace. And once in Moscow, she coordinated a private walking tour with our own guide of the Kremlin and the Armory Chamber. Guides were fully bilingual, extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. In both cases the greeted us at the lobby of our hotel on time, and proposed us with the itinerary for the day. Anastasia also came personally to meet us at our hotel, to help us with restaurants and other sightseeings for us to do on our own. I strongly recommend Rainbow Russia if you are a member of the LGBT community or Anastasia Travel, if you are more on the mainstream touring side. They can create either budget or/and really luxury tours with the highest level of service. CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends

St Petersburg’s million dollars list

St Petersburg’s million dollars list   |   St Petersburg, Russia  |  This list is worth millions ha ha ha … or at list it will cost so, after we visit all these stunning restaurants. Top restaurants and attractions to visit while in St Petersburg by Anastasia Davidova CEO & Founder of Anastasia Travel and Rainbow Russia, partner of CarlosMeliaBlog and Haute Experiences. Thank You Anastasia for the lovely meeting this morning. Are you planning a visit to Russia, then print it and keep it handy.

On top of the restaurants mentioned above, here are the attractions you cannot miss. Of course you can do them ALL on your own, but a tour guide will always provide you with a better understanding, further in detail information and a quick path through attractions like the Hermitage, which otherwise would take you days, even thought still missing probably some of the most relevant highlights. The Hermitage Museum (3 hours with a guide / forever on your own with the audio guide)
Savior on the Spilt Blood (suggested with a guide since they do not offer audio guide) St Isaac’s Cathedral (on your own) Catherine’s Palace at the City of Pushin (with a guide, one of the summer Palaces of the Tzars) Yusupov Palace  (where the story of Rasputin’s murder unfold. you may do it on your own with audio guide, but only those accompanied by an official guide are allowed into the Rasputin’s exhibit) Nicholas Palace (for the best Russian folk performances) Marinsky Theater (the place to go in St Petersburg to see live opera or ballet) Ancient City of Novgorod (full day tour. 3 hours drive each way).  A pretty realistic list for 5 days in St Petersburg right.
