QUINTONIL Restaurant | Mexico City, Mexico | As I have mentioned on my Instagram over and over, I was great surprised by the Gourmet and Restaurant scene of Mexico City, reminding me of Barcelona. QUINTONIL Restaurant by young Mexican chef Jorge Vallejo and restauranteur Alejandra Flores . One mention. Did you know that Mexico City hosts two of the top 100 Restaurants in the world and 5 of the top 50 Latin American Restaurants ?. My early evening began at 7PM at my suite at the St Regis Mexico City, sipping chilled Veuve Clicquot enjoying the lovely views over Paseo de la Reforma and Bosqie de Chapultepec. And I say early evening, because the only booking I managed to get at QUINTONIL was at 8PM and for an hour. This is how popular this restaurant has become. Ranked number 10 on the list of TOP 50 Best Restaurants in Latin America. Continue reading QUINTONIL Restaurant
LE CINQ Lunch at Four Seasons George V | Paris, France | If there is and iconic F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S hotel in Paris. without a doubt and second guess, is the Four Seasons George V, off Avenue George V and meters away Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe. I came invited to do a site inspection of the property, but of course being Fashion Week, the hotel was SOLD OUT, and I only got to glance one of their Premier Suites, which BTW was lovely. I did a walk through the spa and common areas, all ornamented by stunning flower arrangements, signature of Four Seasons, followed by drinks at Le Bar overlooking Le Galerie and lunch at two Michelin-stars restaurant Le Cinq. Patrick Bermand Restaurant | Mont Tremblant, Canada | Freshness, Quality and Simplicity define the concept of this lovely restaurant. How amazing when you expect to be hosted at a pompous stiff and rigid gourmet experience (I mean nothing wrong with that) but instead you are welcomed into the restaurant by the Chef and owner himself, and he shares a whole evening with, telling you his transition from his homeland France and his training at renown Michelin stared restaurant, to his beautiful humble traditional homemade cuisine with extraordinaire technique and a lot of heart and soul. The greatest pleasures in life are simple: being surrounded by people you love and enjoying a good meal! At Patrick Bermand’s you’re more than just a client, you’re the guest of honour of a remarkable host. Thank you Monsieur Patrick Bermand for such a lovely gourmet experience, for your simplicity and camaraderie. Must try restaurant in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada. From Escargot to the most amazing Foie Gras I have tried ever, Gravlax and an incredible Red Snapper en Croute paired with a Côtes du Rhône. (Nothing can go wrong when drinking a French Côtes du Rhône right.) Continue reading Patrick Bermand Restaurant
Fischers Fritz at Regent Berlin | Berlin, Germany | Intimate, sophisticated and cozy. If there is something I like more than an old glamour restaurant and Michelin starred cuisine, is a decadent Filthy Vodka Martini. When a restaurant combines them all, and brag about having the only Bespoke Martini Trolley in the European mainland, then I feel I have died and found heaven. Located on the ground floor of the darling Regent Hotel Berlin, considered by Conde` Nast Traveller to be one of the ‘best places to stay in the world,’ the Regent Berlin is one of the best 5 star hotels in Berlin that prides itself on impeccable service and first-class amenities in the heart of one of Europe’s most compelling cities. Close to the city’s famous “Friedrichstraße” and its magnificent “Unter den Linden” boulevard. Located in the centre of the city on the Gendarmenmarkt alongside the French and German Cathedrals. Rubharb Restaurant Scottish Experience | Edinburgh, Scotland | It has been already two month since I began second world tour of 2013, taking me from South America, North America and now Europe, and every single night I feel the same way, this might be the best restaurant I have ever tried. The the honest truth is that they have all been amazing, and each of them are different and unique on its kind. This time, I have been captivate by the true and deep Scottish nature of Rubharb Restaurant, at the lovely Prestonfield House Hotel. Rubharb pays homage to Sir Alexander Dick, an early 18th century Baron of Prestonfield. He ferried rhubarb seeds back from China, turning Prestonfield into the first estate in Scotland ever to cultivate rhubarb. He received a medal from the Royal Society for his innovative horticultural endeavours. Continue reading Rubharb Restaurant Scottish Experience
J&G Steakhouse | Scottsdale, United States | If you follow my blog, you will know by now that despite being a native Argentinean, I do not eat beef… therefore when I hear the word Steakhouse, I already feel totally out of my lead. But priorities are priorities, and when you are hosted for a formal dinner at a signature Jean-Georges Restaurant, all you do is to open your mind and get ready for a fabulous gourmet experience. So I did. !!! I drove from the Four Seasons Scottsdale all the way to The Phoenixian Hotel, to meet with my hosts at Visit Phoenix. When I arrived to the 5th floor I was amazed by the gorgeous panoramic views over Camelback Mountain, just in time to enjoy a lovely sunset at the bar, over a perfect Grey-Goose Filthy Vodka Martini with huger blue cheese stuffed olives.
Before I go one, I would like to comment on this… What’s with US clientele and their need to have a TV Screen and sport channels, even at the most breathtaking panoramic views of sophisticated environments ? I just don’t get it. There is a place and time for everything. I know, I know…. in the end it all comes down to what makes money, and if guest come to the bad and seat down for hours to watch a game, that’s the beauty of it right!!! I guess, NOT.
J&G Steakhouse offers a sophisticated collection of steakhouse classics as interpreted by Chef Jean-Georges. Situated atop the world-famous Phoenician resort in Scottsdale, the restaurant is draped in a rich palette of purple and gold. Guests enjoy dramatic sunsets and views of the valley while dining on premium meats and a global selection of fish. Dishes are masterfully executed using fresh, local ingredients and spices from around the world.
After a few Martinis enjoying the sunset over Camelback Mountain listening to live piano and singing, we were escorted to our table. But this time the night was already falling and the room was lighting up with candles and low lights, bringing up the sophistication and intimate ambiance.
We began our Jean-Georges culinary experience with the Raw Bar. The Chilled Shellfish Platter 1⁄2 Chilled Lobster, 2 Oysters 2 Clams, 5 Jumbo Shrimp and 4 Mussels (USD 38). Continued with (my favorites) Heirloom Tomatoes over Crispy Onions, Russian Dressing (USD 12). As my main course I chose the Parmesan Crusted Chicken Lemon-Basil Butter Artichoke (USD 24). As you can see the menu is very well priced and accessible, given the fact of being one of the top rated restaurants in Scottsdale. Of course the Chef indulged us with a degustation of desserts, which I feel too guilty to share. My visit to Scottsdale/Phoenix, was to my surprise, all about amazing restaurants, with very interesting concepts, fresh farmer produce and vegetables, fabulous food and breathtaking panoramic views.
