LUXURIOUS BOUTIQUE EXPERIENCE AT AN ICONIC LOCATION at The Betsy Hotel over Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, South Beach. I stayed there for one night. A refined, beachside haven located in the heart of South Beach. The 61-room property cocoons its guests in timeless luxury, while offering incredible ocean views, exquisite amenities. Breezy, beach-bright luxury rooms, I stayed at one of their lovely Superior Suites overlooking the beach and right on top Ocean Drive. Superior Suites provide 468 square feet of spacious separate living and entertainment areas with the latest technology. Designed to accommodate guests for short visits or longer stays, The Betsy Superior Suites offer a king bed in the Master Bedroom and a sofa bed in the living area for additional sleeping accommodation. The hotel is currently undergoing an expansion, which will double their offer. Highlights of my stay were: the views of the beach from my suite + the Ocean Deck rooftop. Expert TIP: I would recommend to stay at the inn courtyard suites/rooms if you are light sleeper. Suites/Rooms facing Ocean Drive, do have the breathtaking views, but at the same time, have the nightly hustle and bustle from Ocean Drive.
PURE ELEGANCE AND CLASS, next stop – or better said, next stay – was at the uber chic St Regis Resort Bal Harbour, in Bal Harbour. A peerless haven of oceanfront elegance, quiet unwavering taste, anticipatory service and seductive amenities. This exclusive Miami Beach enclave is directly across from the celebrated Bal Harbour Shops mere minutes from the whirlwind energy of South Beach. Wake in the morning as the gentle breeze of the Atlantic invites you to start your day. Rejuvenate at Remède Spa, with our Wellness Program, or simply stroll along the beach as the ocean caresses the sand. Indulge in gastro-pleasing delights by Jean-Georges at J&G Grill. All guest rooms are spacious (650 sq. ft.) and feature 210 sq. ft. individual balconies with the largest all-ocean views in South Florida. Soft, refined color palettes, textures and artwork showcase the destination, with five-fixture marble bathrooms and modern conveniences and technology incorporated seamlessly into their design – from flat-screen TVs and iPod stereo docking stations, to intelligent control Butler service technology. Highlights of my stay were: the comfort of their suites/rooms, signature of St Regis Hotels + the views from my balcony and the super comfortable chaise lounges + breakfast at the J&G Grill with incredible views + the quiet beach section. Expert TIP: book this property through me and enjoy the following VIP Amenities… Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability + American Breakfast for up to two in-room guests daily served in Atlantico restaurant + $100 USD Equivalent Spa Services credit, to be utilized during stay (not combinable, no cash value if not redeemed in full) + Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability.
MIAMI BEACH’s NEW HOSPITALITY AND ART HOTSPOT at FAENA Hotel Miami at the new FAENA District. Following the lineage of their iconic property in Buenos Aires, FAENA sets a new standard sophistication and style. Evoking Miami’s golden age of glamour, the landmark hotel’s guestrooms and suites boast signature butler service and a bespoke blend of late-Deco flair and contemporary amenities. I was hosted at one of their PREMIER Oceanfront Rooms, alluring living spaces with elegantly appointed balconies that enjoy privileged views of Miami’s azure waters. All public areas, restaurants, spa, and hotel are curated with exquisite taste and to-perfection attention to detail. Of course need to be mentioned both of Damian Hirts’ pieces created for the hotel, the Golden Mammoth located at the pool area, and the Unicorn place indoors at the PAO by Paul Qui Restaurant. I was lucky to have a sneak peek at the soon to open FAENA Theater and the private SAXONY Bar, which both will bring edge, sex-appeal and sophistication back to South Beach. A must if you are in Miami, is to stop by the Living Room for a cocktail and/or light snack. Highlights of my stay were: simply everything. This is the hotel I would personally choose to stay at when in Miami. Expert TIP: book this property through me and enjoy the following VIP Amenities… Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability + Daily full breakfast, for up to two in room guests + $100 USD Equivalent Resort or Hotel credit to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full) + Early check-in/late check-out,subject to availability.
THE GRAND DAME OF MIAMI IN NEED OF A FACE LIFT at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. Combining deep affection for lush South Florida landscape with a high regard for Italian, Moorish and Spanish architectural influences, George Merrick realized his dream in the construction of his masterpiece. This is the Biltmore Hotel. A palatial resort built in the 1920s is a National Historic Landmark. Amenities include a full-service spa, an 18-hole golf course, a lighted tennis center, a 10,000-square-foot fitness center and a 21,000-square-foot outdoor pool. Fine and casual dining options are on-site, and weekend champagne brunch and high tea are served. I was hosted at one of their Junior Suites, offering a beautiful city, golf or swimming pool view and luxurious European feather bedding topped with 340-thread-count Egyptian cotton duvet covers with Jerusalem stone-tiled floors. The bedroom area is separated from the spacious sitting area by a double-sided ceiling height bookcase/desk unit. With a choice of King or Double Queen beddings, the Junior Suite also features two flat-screen TVs, wireless high-speed internet, mini bar and safe, luxurious essential bath amenities including Frette robes and plush bamboo orchid towels. 360 sq ft. At one time the pool was the largest pool in the world and among the many attractions was swimming instructor (and later Tarzan actor) Johnny Weissmuller. Highlights of my stay were: the architecture is just exquisite. Walking the property and getting lost is a treat. Expert TIP: Are you a golfer? this is the place to be.
A HIDDEN GEM AND TRUE FINDING at Casa Claridge’s at FAENA District. The ultimate finding of my trip. Spanish-style boutique hotel, by the FAENA Group, located steps away from the beach and FAENA Hotel Miami. Highlights of my stay were: the beautiful atrium and art + spacious rooms + price for quality + location . Expert TIP: Stay at Casa Claridge’s, for a low rate starting from USD 150 per night and enjoy the FAENA Hotel Miami services and amenities (with exception to the outdoor pool ).
Other properties I’ve visited during my week stay, for site inspections, include: The Raleigh Hotel Miami. A streamlined art deco landmark built in 1941.
The SOHO House Miami Beach. Where I also enjoyed a lovely lunch at Cecconi’s Miami.
And finally the SLS Hotel Miami Beach. Carlos Melia Luxury Travel Curator – www.carlosmelia.com
