Rosewood Hotel Abu Dhabi a sense of place | Abu Dhabi, UAE | During my recent and brief visit to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, I took advantage of my 7 hours flight connection and decided to stay to explore for the first time, the Emirati capital. After my morning visit to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, took a “day use” suite at the very lovely Rosewood Hotel Abu Dhabi, to unwind, freshen up and recharge for my next 8 hours flight onwards to my next destination. For more insight on my Abu Dhabi experience check out my Instagram Photo Gallery on my recent visit. Rosewood is a collection of luxury hotels with locations worldwide. To me, one of the hotel chains that has stepped up to the game, offering fantastic properties. Recently I have stayed with them at the recently inaugurated Rosewood Beijing (their first property in Asia), and also at the gorgeous Rosewood Hotel San Miguel de Allende. Established in 1979 Rosewood is a distinctive collection of highly individual, luxurious, residential-style hotels inspired by the culture, history and geography of each locale. ” A sense of Place ”
Their second property in the Middle East, is inspired by the glistening Arabian Gulf, Rosewood Abu Dhabi is a luxury hotel delivering peerless extravagance and service to the United Arab Emirates. Located on Al Maryah Island at the core of Abu Dhabi’s new International Financial Center and directly connected to The Galleria and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Rosewood Abu Dhabi is a five-star hotel that brings sophistication to new heights. This ultra-luxury hotel features spacious guestrooms along with round-the-clock personalized butler service. Guests will discover stunning views of the turquoise waterfront, a full spectrum of dining destinations and world-class amenities at this new landmark in Abu Dhabi. Featuring 154 spacious guestrooms and 35 suites, the iconic tower also includes 131 serviced residences, all with access to world-class service. My suite was super comfortable, unfortunately I was there just for 4 hours. Attention to detail and true to their ” Sense of Place ” spirit, as I walked into my suite, a photo of my dog was waiting for me with a welcome note, and a Dirty Martini set, to fix my favorite drink to help me unwind and relax. BRAVO. !!!!Bathrooms are super spacious and feature beautiful views of the Financial District of Al Maryah Island. Once there take a good look around you, Abu Dhabi is growing and changing in such fast pace, that next time, you will experience a totally different sight.
So I enjoyed my Dirty Martini, took a nice shower and relaxed for an hour. While my attentive butler, was making sure that my shoes were polished and my jacket pressed, to look dapper for the second leg of my journey. Around 3PM I can down, and joined the Rosewood team, for a fantastic Lebanese late lunch at Sambusek Restaurant, one of their 9 in-house dinning options. Sambusek is set in a cool, elegant surrounding that is vibrantly upbeat. Capturing the true essence of Lebanese cuisine, Sambusek delights seafood lovers with the quality and freshness of its ingredients from the local fish market. The Chef, graciously came to the table to welcome me personally and made sure to send our way, a large selection of tasteful classics and some innovations. All paired with exquisite Lebanese White Wine. Once again, I wish I would have have more time to enjoy his creations. Located on Sambusek’s relaxing outdoor terrace lies Smoke, the Shisha bar. With striking views of the waterfront and the Abu Dhabi skyline, guests can unwind next to the fire pits where red-hot embers stoke delicious Shisha flavors.
For a private and slightly mysterious hideaway, Hidden Bar is the ultimate spot. Ideal for soft-spoken gatherings, this cozy lounge features cocoon-style seating with gliding veiled drapes and soothing music.
Now my favorite was La Cava. Inspired by the rich history of wine-making, is an intimate and exclusive live wine cellar where experienced sommeliers present a palette-testing variety of wines from boutique to classic vineyards. Descending into La Cava via circular wooden stairs, the focus on wine is evidenced by wall-to-wall cabinets nurturing 1,500 premium labels. The Private Reserve caters to exclusive tastes with the rarest of vintages offered in a highly secured part of the cellar. In addition, a walk-in cigar room and humidor, in combination with a prized whisky selection, make for a very snug cigar bar.
After lunch I had a short break to enjoy their outdoor pool, a refreshing summer dip. Cooled in the summer and heated in the winter, the hotel’s 25-meter outdoor pool allows guests to enjoy refreshing swims any time of the day, whatever the season. And of course they also have a great bar, named Glo, with views of Abu Dhabi’s skyline.
Unfortunately was time to Check OUT and say goodbye. Head to the airport to continue my journey. But feeling super relaxed after my fantastic stay and lunch at Rosewood Abu Dhabi. Carlos Melia Luxury Travel Curator – www.carlosmelia.com
