Dulce Patria Restaurant by Chef Martha Ortiz | Mexico City, Mexico | Award-winning chef Martha Ortiz, specializing in festive and traditional Mexican cuisine in a modern-yet-sophisticated environment right in the heart of Polanco. A 90-seat high energy venue that has redefined the Mexican dining experience. The menu is comprised of traditional plates reinterpreted in a modern context; set in a lively, stylish and urban environment. The restaurant boasts two terraces that give the inside of the restaurant a serene spacious and outdoor feel.
Chef Martha Ortiz, highly charismatic, has such a deep love for Mexico and being Mexican, that show on her gourmet creations, but more so, as she approaches your table and explains each dish with deep empathy and passion.
My choices for the night were: Ceviche Vampiro with Mango (BTW did you know that Mexico has some of the best Mangos in the world ? ). Ajochile Bass with tender tamal of hoja santa and purslane. For my dessert, chosen by Martha Ortiz herself ” Lluvia que pare el fuego ” of Potzol Ice-Cream made of Corn and Chocolate. Inspired on the coffee producers of Mexico, protecting their harvesting from the fires with rain. At the end a lovely interpretation of Petit Fours Mexican style.
The restaurant is part of Las Alcobas Boutique Hotel, which was my host hotel during my first two nights in Mexico City. Red, representing Mexico, is the predominant color in the decoration, and on the design of her dishes, on her Moles, sauces and dressings. Also gold, representing the Sun. Urban Mexican classics. !!! One of your mandatory gourmet stops in Mexico City. Carlos Melia Luxury Travel Curator – www.carlosmelia.com
