21 Club beyond steak and hamburgers21 Club way beyond steak and hamburgers stereotype |  New York, United States  |  Last night I joined my dear friend Michael Romei, for a distinguished evening hosted by the 21 Club by Belmond. Our night began, of course, over Martinis and continue over a few fantastic bottles of Sancere, along with the Menu by their new Executive Chef Sylvain Delpique. 
21 Club beyond steak and hamburgersMost people when they think of 21 Club restaurant by Belmond, immediately they think about a few stereotypes such as steak, hamburgers and formal dress code. Well this iconic New York restaurant and water hole, offers all that and way beyond. And who minds dressing up for a great gourmet experience right, on the contrary, that is the absolute plus.
21 Club beyond steak and hamburgersNew chef Sylvain Delpique and our lovely host Julie, surprised and spoiled us with one dish after the other, and quite a huge selection of desserts at the very end. My choices for the evening were: to share Octopus Carpaccio pomegranate, kalamata olives, za’atar vinaigrette  (USD 26). To share Yellow Fin Tuna Tartare avocado, bergamot, white harissa, pomme gaufrette  (USD 22). Main course Amish Chicken spaetzle, chestnuts, shaved Brussels sprouts, brandied raisin jus  (USD 39). For the table some signature side dishes, such as, Creamed Spinach, Brussels Sprouts with Pancetta and Chestnut-Honey, Fricassée of Wild Mushrooms, Grilled Asparagus, French Fries, Lobster Whipped Potato Gratinée and my absolute madness, the Pommes Soufflées.

I mean we had at least 7 different ones. And I tried a bit of each… Crème Brûlée Tasting vanilla bean, coffee, roasted pecan. Melt-Away Chocolate Bombe raspberry parfait, lemon ganache. Profiteroles candied almonds, dark chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream. I was tempted to try their selection of Cheeses, but honestly I just couldn’t eat any more.
