Located approximately two hours from Tel Aviv, Masada by King Herods the Great, was one of top highlights of my recent journey through Israel
King Herods the Great Fortress & Palace of Masada

King Herod the Great. A king imposed  by foreign power – the Romans, ruled in fear and lived in fear, for 33 years of his reign. Violent and ruthless, but extremely intelligent. Paranoid of his subjects, the jews, more than the Romans. who placed him in power. In fear of everyone around him, during this time he built over 11 palaces and fortresses, as places of refugee. Places where he could retrieve in the event of an unrest or KU. An engineering mastermind, a visionary with unparalleled wealth and power.

King Herods the Great Fortress & Palace of MasadaThe fortress and palace of Masada, showed his ambition and innovation in design. He was well know for turning inhabitable rocks, into lavish oasis, in the middle of the Judaean Desert, pairing luxury and safety, as he only knew. His creations were infused by his own ego, ambition and paranoia. He was also consider a mastermind of the aqueducts.

Masada, a symbol of the ancient kingdom of Israel, its violent destruction and the last stand of Jewish patriots in the face of the Roman army, in 73 A.D. Declared World Heritage Centre by the UNESCO. Visiting the city of Masada and his palace carved in tree levels on the north face of the mountain, was indeed, one of the highlights of my trip to Israel. The panoramic views from atop, of the Judaean Desert, the green waters of the Dead Sea and the coast of Jordan, were breathtaking.

I strongly recommend this site. During my time in Israel, I was lucky to also see other of Herods the Great creations such us Caesarea and Temple Mount.
