The Inn at Perry Cabin by Belmond | St Michaels, Maryland | My parents were in town, in New York, visiting from Argentina, for my 40th Birthday. After that we were all going to spend a week in Miami Beach… so I had this crazy idea, all targeting for quality bonding time. Driving all the way from New York City down to Miami, Florida. Yes many might thought I was crazy, and yes, was long driving sessions, BUT we did had a fantastic time and enjoyed great stays at lovely hotels by Belmond. Our firs stop was the lovely and charming town of St. Michaels, Virigina at the stunning The Inn at Perry Cabin.
The drive from central Manhattan to the Victorian town of St. Michaels, Virginia took us approximately four hours, including a few stops along the way. Door to door, from the Big Apple to this quaint – out of a movie set – town, which consists on a main street and a few cute stores and restaurants. Few steps away, The Inn at Perry Cabin, a 19th century restored Manor house, sits embracing all the charm of this town. Steeped in history and style, this colonial mansion is the perfect rural retreat. While just a pleasant drive from Washington, D.C. and less than two hours from Baltimore and Philadelphia, it could be a world away.
A charming manor house resort and spa, Belmond The Inn at Perry Cabin sits in beautiful gardens that reach down to the gentle waters of the iconic Maryland’s Eastern shore. Relaxation is the order of the day: lounge in the fabulous Linden Spa, float in the infinity pool or savor seafood in the gastronomic restaurant. Stroll into St. Michaels to discover intriguing antiques shops—or set out to sea on a yacht or heritage craft. Unfortunately I have to do all this in quite a rushed mode, since we were there only for an overnight stay. Mea Culpa, we should have stayed there at leas for an entire century, ha ha ha, no really at least two nights, to fully enjoy the property.
I was hosted, well we were hosted, since Mademoiselle Bruna was with me (pet-friendly) at the most beautiful Grand Master Waterview Suite, only to be matched or over shined by the stunning 180 degrees panoramic views of Maryland’s Eastern shore and the Miles River. Watch the video of my suite.
Their grand Master Suites offer unparalleled comfort in graceful, heritage style. Stretch out on king-sized beds. Unwind in the spacious lounge. Seek sanctuary in the exquisite Italian marble bathrooms complete with dual vanities and deep tubs. Since I was there only for one night, and I truly wanted to experience and enjoy my suite, I stayed there the entire time. Gorgeous sunset dinner, over red wine and real fireplace.
So I did passed on dinning at their romantic restaurant Sherwood’s Landing. Start the day down by the shore with a delicious breakfast at Sherwood’s Landing. Or enjoy a light al fresco lunch under the midday sun on the terrace. The finest seafood restaurant on Maryland’s shore, dinner is a tantalising treat. An eclectic menu features fresh seasonal specialities. Watch the moonlight dance across the Miles River as you savor every mouthful. Fine wines and discreet service offer the perfect accompaniment. Also (and just between us, travelers, try the Crab Claw Restaurant. You will love it).
The following morning, I hosted a breakfast for my parents at my suite, right before we hit the road once again, to our next destination. And after that we went for a nice walk to the lake, and the pier on the stream of Miles River.
Before leaving the property, I made sure to stop by and have a look at the Linden Spa, named after the linden trees that grace the resort, but most importantly for its resplendent manicured gardens. The Entry Garden features teak furniture, slate floor and plants placed to create privacy. Take the meandering path to the Woodland Garden. A magnificent canopy of old magnolia, holly and cypress trees awaits.
Ideal destination for a romantic getaway, friend or family reunion, but most importantly, a dream come true destination for a buy out or small wedding.
