The Goring Hotel London | London, United Kingdom | Recapping my 2013 of traveling around the world, if there was a hotel I always wanted to stay, was the iconic The Goring Hotel in Belgravia, London. And more so after The Goring was granted a Royal Warrant for Hospitality Services by Her Majesty The Queen, and was the where the now Duchess of Cambridge spent her last night as a single woman, and headquarters for Kate Middleton team, pre and post wedding. The best closing option to my experience across Scotland, Edinburgh and The Royal Scotsman Luxury Train.
Back in 1910, Jeremy’s great-grandfather, OR Goring, founded the hotel that has carried the family name ever since. Today, The Goring is regarded the favourite address for anyone looking for the quintessentially English hotel in the heart of London. A hotel where every member of the team takes terrific pride in offering the highest levels of personal service, where guests are sincerely welcomed and can enjoy elegant individual accommodations, the tranquillity of its own private Gardens, and the utterly splendid Lounge Bar and Dining Room where the very best of British food and been celebrated for over a century.

I was hosted at one of the Suites with picturesque garden views, which was a treat to the eyes, a real rarity in this bustling metropolis. With just 69 rooms and suites The Goring is truly a “Baby Grand”, the finest of hotels in the perfect location but with the most intimate of atmospheres and personalised attention. Love the design, color scheme and textures. Even the touch of the little white sheep.
Suite has been individually designed employing a range of beautiful colours and materials all sourced from the finest producers and artisans from across the British Isles. Intricate silk weaves from the age old house of Gainsborough Silks, glorious fabrics designed by Nina Campbell and a plethora of wonderfully crafted bespoke furniture are all interwoven with cutting edge technology pieces to create the signature Goring rooms and suites.
The district of Belgravia is probably the most imposing area of London, characterised by the grand squares, stately mansions and elegant terraces of white stucco houses of the 1820s. Buckingham Palace borders the district, who we have always considered the nicest of neighbours!
Must do and try are both the Tea Time and the bar, trust me, the place to be and be seen. Wonderful Filthy Vodka Martinis with huge olives, just as it should be. The Bar throbs at the epicenter of London life. Designed by Tim Gosling, it smacks of colonial grandeur without the stuffed game. In the summer, the verandah overlooks the enormous gardens and is one of the hidden gems of the City.
The Goring has been serving its quintessentially English Afternoon Tea since the day the hotel opened in 1910 and after 103 years, has mastered the perfect menu – with everything from deliciously traditional British brews, to tea-leaves sourced from the foot of the Himalayas. Such excellence has resulted in The Goring’s being awarded with one of the highest accolades from the UK Tea Guild, The 2013 Top London Afternoon Tea Award.
In The Dining Room, no apologies are made for serving PROPER British cuisine using produce so carefully sourced many of their supplier, farmer and producer names are kept in a safe. With its interior designed by David Linley, The Dining Room is the destination restaurant for proper British cuisine.
