Belmond Hotel Cipriani | Venice, Italy | One of the most iconic hotels in the world, if there is one. You name it, celebrities, head of states, tycoons, religious leaders, multimillionaires, influencers… all have either stayed of visited, this very first property of Belmond Hotels in the entire world. Yes, indeed, this is where the story of sophistication and luxury all began, hidden in the exclusivity of Giudecca Island, only 7 minutes away, on your own private riva, crossing Venice‘s Grand Canal from Piazza San Marco. And this time, was our time to stay, and enjoy this oasis of finesse, savoir vivre and refinement.
There is so much to tell and say about this hotel. which exceeds the mere of hospitality anecdotes. Belmond Hotel Cipriani is a hotel in Venice, northern Italy. On May 26, 1958 Giuseppe Cipriani, founder of Harry’s Bar (right across the Grand Canal) in Venice and inventor of the Bellini cocktail, opened the Hotel Cipriani on the island of Giudecca. In 1976, Belmond Hotels was founded with the purchase of Hotel Cipriani. But enough of history, and back to our fabulous experience of self-indulgent in old style and glamour.
Belmond Hotel Cipriani sits beside the Venetian lagoon looking out across the water towards the Doge’s Palace. Minutes after admiring the Basilica’s mosaics, you can travel by launch to the hotel’s jetty and soon be luxuriating by the Olympic-sized pool. Adjacent to the hotel is Palazzo Vendramin, a romantic 15th-century palace with spectacular views. Life progresses as if in a dream: breakfast watching boats drift by, lunch on a private terrace, a treatment in the spa, dinner in a garden lit by lanterns. Stay in an exceptional suite, such as the Palladio, with its own private mooring and a 180-degree panorama across the waters to iconic architecture and islands.
We were hosted at one of the beyond darling Venetian style Suites, right overlooking the lagoon, a Lagoon View Suite with Balcony. Luxurious fabrics and furnishings grace these grand residences. Marvel at spectacular lagoon views from the you balcony, which I used every single morning to take my first cup of coffee and in the late afternoons to have a chilled glass of Sancerre or bubbly Champagne. Hotel Cipriani has a total of 95 suites and bedrooms, including 16 suites and rooms in Palazzo Vendramin.
Arriving to Belmond Hotel Cipriani is a whole experience, and tour by itself. The hotel have a private water shuttle service onboard a luxury riva. The journey across the Grand Canal takes approximately 7 minutes, and it is a treat to the eyes, to be during sunrise, day, sunset or night.
Other premium features and amenities are the olympic-sized swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis court, Casanova wellness centre in the gardens. Smile Club for children, with its own pool. Private marina. Boutique arcade. Granaries of the Republic for banquets and events. Golf nearby. Complimentary shuttle launch to central Venice.
We stayed at Belmond Hotel Cipriani for a total of three days and two nights. Unfortunately, since there is so much to experience and taste in Venice in terms of restaurant and culinary options, that we only try their food and beverage options for breakfast every morning (which BTW is wonderful, not only by the quality of the menu and buffet, but most specially because of the stunning panoramic views), and also we enjoyed our own private tea time and the balcony of our Lagoon Views Suite with Balcony.
Belmond Hotel Cipriani lets you dine at Venice’s top table. From the iconic Cip’s Club to the acclaimed Fortuny Restaurant every venue is sublime. Breakfast was served at the Fortuny Restaurant serves exquisite cuisine within classic Venetian-style surroundings. The romantic lagoon-side setting adds to this exceptional dining experience. Due to the time of the year and low temperatures, we opted to remain inside, but during the summer you can also your the outdoor terrace. The hotel also offers Cip’s Club, wonderfully glamorous yet informal, Cip’s Club has earned an international reputation and boasts unparalleled views of St Mark’s Square. Porticciolo Pool Restaurant, indulge in delicious light cuisine from the Porticciolo. Relax in the shade, or gaze at the lagoon as you enjoy regional specialities and refreshing drinks.
So in all, it was a fabulous experience, and no doubt a item I have managed to cross out of my worldwide Travel Bucket List. Being part of the travel and hospitality industry, to have the honor and pleasure to visit and experience this gems, is hard to explain fully with words, I hope my photos and videos made honor to the experience. If not see my face of absolute happiness and relaxation in the photo below.
