What a better place to have a date out in the city with my man, and celebrate his recent success and achievements. As the Paul Revere’s Ride poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow goes …” He said to his friend, …If the British march by land or sea from the town to-night, Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch of the North Church tower as a signal light,– One if by land, and Two if by sea; and I on the opposite shore will be, ready to ride and spread the alarm through every Middlesex village and farm, for the country folk to be up and to arm…”.
A romantic candle lit dinner, a special occasion, or just for the sake for a sophisticated, intimate chic dinner with your partner, then One if by Land, Two if by Sea is the perfect restaurant choice. This is my second time there, and has never disappointed me. You may choose the option of a 3 Steps Menu (approx. USD 90 per person) or the 7 Steps Tasting Menu (approx. USD 125 per person + USD 70 for the wine pairing) by Executive Chef Colt Taylor.
Of course a must, upon arrival, specially during winter time, is to enjoy some of the great cocktail choices at their living room while listening to live Jazz music. The ambience is to cozy and inviting, but at the same time very intimate and private.
Of course I open my experience with a couple of great Dirty Vodka Martinis, exactly as I like them filthy, salty and with three huge olives. And the band kept playing, as I was zipping through them with great pleasure waiting for my favorite table to become available. TIP. !!! Ask for one of the tables over the windows overlooking the internal garden, and them let me know if it is not the right choice.
We both went for the 3 Steps Fix Priced Menu, which was pair to perfection by our Sommelier. I tried the HEIRLOOM BEET SALAD kale, pec, tzatziki along with a Riesling Wine to kill the iron of the beets. The SEARED TURBOT peruvian potato purée, asparagus, leek, sauce bonnefoy with a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. And my sweet tooth chose the WARM PUMPKIN CUSTARD malt, gingerbread, marshmallow, molasses together with a minted Tea.
