The lovely town of Aguas Calientes

The lovely town of Aguas Calientes   |  Aguas Calientes, Peru  |  Aguas Calientes is a lovely hectiv town located at the Sacred Valley, bathed by the waters of the Urubamba River. It is the door to access to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the citadella of Machu Picchu and the Wayna Picchu. Follow the ancient path of Pachacuti and later the discovery by Hiram Bingham, to have your spiritual close encounter with Machu Picchu. Follow my Instagram Peru Photo Gallery for more tips, photos and videos.

I arrived to Aguas Calientes onboard the Hiram Bingham luxury train, after a four hours ride from Poroy Train Station, close to Cusco.
From Aguas Calientes is where you will be taking your bus to/from Machu Picchu. Twenty five minutes ride over stunning landscape separate this town to the citadella of Machu Picchu.
The image of the Inca Pachacuti leads the central square of Aguas Calientes. The ninth Sapa Inca (1438–1471/1472) of the Kingdom of Cusco, which he transformed into the empire Tawantinsuyu,
The town is LOVELY. You can see the during the las four years, it has grown beyond its limits, but still remains true to its heritage. I was kind of bummed that I was not able to spend more time there or even overnight, but at least I had an hour to explore before boarding once again my Belmond train, this time to Ollantaytambo, my next destination on my Peruvian experience.
