Horseback ridding and lunch at HUAYOCCARI

Horseback ridding and lunch at HUAYOCCARI  |  Sacred Valley, Peru |  Visiting a local hacienda (aka. ranch) at the Sacred Valley, is a MUST do. Nestled in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, at km 64 of the road-Urubamba Cusco, access to enjoy a landscape surrounded by fields of corn, eucalyptus forests and Pisonay trees. The privileged location of the ranch house, makes the views of the Sacred Valley unique. Its location is strategic because it is equidistant from the towns of Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero. You can see the video below, a bit out of breath due to the hight altitude and the movement of the horse. Follow my Instagram Peru Photo Gallery for more tips, photos and videos.

La Hacienda Huayoccari, which dates back to the seventeenth century, consists of agricultural land, the ranch house, gardens, orchard and pens. Produces white corn to export and for the home owners, for more than a century. The garden produces native ingredients that are used in the restaurant’s kitchen, value foods such as corn, quinoa, fruit and aromatic herbs. It opens its doors to share with you their service restaurant offering home cooking.

At this ranch Peruvian Paso horses are bred, making it possible to offer a shows with these specimens and also rides. They have such a particular way of walking, that you would think they were trained since very young to walk this way, but no, it is already in their genetics. Main reason why most owners, do not like this horse to run, since over the time they tend to loose the characteristic way of walking that represents the Peruvian horses.

That is what we did for over two hours, along the Sacred Valley, passing by small towns and breathtaking sceneries, before heading back to Hacienda Huayoccari to enjoy a lovely lunch.

Since ancient times, the family Orihuela – owners of Huayoccari, has been a collector of pre-Columbian art and colonial. Today it can be offered to guests enjoy visiting a small museum in the ranch house.
In a highly exclusive and accompanied by baroque and classical music, will taste dishes made with quality products in the region, many of them grown in the Hacienda. They can host individuals for lunches, or big groups for private events. All with due previous bookings, no walk ins allowed.
By the way, this is a perfect location to celebrate a wedding, renewal of vows or civil unions. Stunning panoramic views of the Sacred Valley on a natural altar. Very romantic and striking, followed by a private reception out in the gardens and lunch or dinner at the private dinning room. Carlos Melia Luxury Travel Curator – www.carlosmelia.com
