Fabulous lunch at Saint James Paris | Paris, France | By renown Chef Virginie Basselot, located at the 16eme arrondissement, one of the most exclusive districts of Paris, and within the eclectic, traditional and uber chic Saint James Hotel by the Relais & Chateux collection. Only a few tables open to general public for dinner and exclusive to the hotel guests or members of the club for breakfast and lunch, a way to keep the ambiance, allure and crowd of the hotel and the restaurant in premium style and sophistication. It feels so good to be treated like a guest and be served with courtesy and kindness, not a common gesture in Paris. The whole design and concept of the hotel and restaurant was created by designer Bambi Sloan, whom is very well known of shaking up tradition with talent, humour and fantasy.
In the dining room, Bambi commissioned copies of major 19th century paintings from Italy. Heavy curtains lined with trimmings, small black pedestal tables, leopard print carpets and velvet upholstered comfortable chairs, with one central chandelier surrounded by smaller ones around the room. Huge windows overlooking the gardens, Paris first airfield where hot air balloons use to take off. You may choose for indoor or outdoor seating.
Invited by the management of the hotel, I was lucky enough to experience their brand new menu, with a strong French identity and main focus on fish, seafood and red meat. Excellent presentation and experience while being served. My choices were: Spider Crab rolled in turnip, passion fruit and coriander, spicy shell broth (EUR 30).
Dessert was a Belle-Hélène pear, spicy chocolate sauce. A true refined dining experiences at a very sophisticated ambiance, not for nothing Conde Nast has given Saint James Paris, three flames and rank them into the Traveler Hot List 2012. Delicate, spicy and decadent at the same time. Saint James Paris For more information about Saint James Paris or bookings www.saint-james-paris.com. For now Bon Appetit et Merci.
