New York Public Library Stephen A. Schwarzman Building

New York Public Library Stephen A. Schwarzman Building  |  New York City, United States  |  Yesterday I came out of my hotel in New York, part of my weekend plans to be a tourist in my own city, and right there it was, the New York Public Library, a building I have passed by a zillion times, but I have never taken the time to step inside and appreciate the beauty of the architecture and heritage.

I am sure you all recognize this stairs, from Sex on the City the movie, where she is stood up by Mr Big on her fabulous McQueen gown.
The best way to explore the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, is by taking one of the complimentary one hour tours. Learn about the heritage, the building, and more. Have preferred access to rooms and areas, not open to regular public. Monday – Saturday @ 11AM and 2PM. Sundays @ 2PM.
My absolute favorite rooms were: the Ballroom on the top floor with the stunning fresco on the ceiling, foyer to the Public Catalogue Room.
The DeWitt Wallace Periodical Room on the first floor, with stunning windows, woodwork and such a relaxing, silent environment.

And all the corridors of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, my type of architecture “Beaux-Arts” neoclassical. I am obsessed with this style, the chandeliers, the Vermont marble, the high ceilings with the wood fixtures.
New York Public Library, also know as Main Branch (5th Avenue between 40th and 42nd Street). CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends
