HUDSON Hotel New York shows its new face

HUDSON Hotel New York shows its new face  |  New York, United States  |  Who doesn’t recognize this stairs right, I mean long ago they used to be so chic and avant-garde. The traditional and iconic HUDSON Hotel in New York city, an institution in style and design by Morgans Group, with the signature of Philippe Stark and Ian Schrager. The hotel has recently undergone some face and concept renovations, and here is the final product that the sales and marketing team introduced to us on a very private gathering for New York top travel producers.

I liked the concept and style. For decades, the Hudson Hotel, has been a classic of New York. Now featuring a younger, more practical new style, based on the Cheap Chic concept. My only comment about the hotel, is WHY ARE THE ROOMS SO SMALL. I happened to walk into the Superior rooms, and when I asked … ” How much do you charge for this Standard Room, everyone looked at me in panic and said, this is a Superior Room…” so figure that.
This is literally the size of a Standard Room (12,63 sqmts), wall to wall bed plus a bathroom. (approx. USD 200 x night including complimentary slow speed WiFi and Fitness Center). But they know their downsides and restrictions, so they chose to redo the face of the rooms, and compete as the best on their category, and I think for that, they still have a great product, right in the heart of Manhattan and Columbus Circle. Do I think the rooms are small, YES. !!! Would I stay there, well I am in between, I mean it has a rocking location, young sazzy style, cool crowd and for those like me that love hotels, it is a New York institution.
The Superior Rooms are a bit wider and bigger (15,79 sqmts)

Now if you can stretch your budget, the options do come in bigger sizes, but if you are a size queen, it might still not be enough. See the video above of their Suites, total of 15 in the whole hotel.
Press Release by the hotel: An exciting new chapter is about to begin for Hudson – our room renovation plan for 2012 includes new mattresses, new desks, new televisions, iPod docks, in room refrigerators, illuminated mirrors, smart card lock system, upgraded room lighting, new telephones and more. Our guests will not be disturbed during this renovation. We can’t wait for everyone to experience our new rooms in Fall 2012!
They are still working on most of the outdoor spaces, as most of us know Ian Schrager’s favorite spot of a hotel, but they are promising a new restaurant and a beer garden with over 20 different types of beer options.
I really liked this self-service Asian style machine at the lobby of the hotel. I wonder if after all, they are going after the Asian style of a Bento Box Hotel concept in the end? That would explain the size of the rooms to me. But watch out, that is a territory that YOTEL has taken by storm here in New York.

Located in midtown, just steps from Central Park, Columbus Circle and the theater district, Hudson is a brilliant reflection of the boldness and diversity of the city, while simultaneously representing the next generation of Cheap Chic – stylish, democratic, young at heart and utterly cool.
