AIRE Ancient Bath Hamam experience in Tribeca | New York, United States | Yes you read right, now you can have your own Hamam experience in New York City at AIRE Ancient Bath. A Greek, Roman and Ottoman Empire influenced thermal bath, built in a former textile factory dating from 1883. Where body and soul come together and find equilibrium. AIRE, originally from Spain with three locations, now lands in the heart of Manhattan on Franklin Street, Tribeca. Indulge and pamper yourself.
I had my own experience yesterday, and I must say it was rather relaxing and invigorating. My session tool 90 minutes, beginning with a 15 minutes light massage, and then over an hour doing the cycle of pool six pools and the Hamam. My favorite was the Salted Water pool at 100 degrees, with the ability to induce mental relaxation. Just let your body float free and motionless, concentrating on the music coming from under water, to reach full physical and mental rest.
From USD 75 on, enjoy and retreat like Romans used to do at the end of the 5th century, turning public bath into a feast of senses. Begin your 90 minutes ritual at the “Tepidarium” the warm water pool (97 degrees), then on to the “Caldarium” the hot water pool (102 degrees), carry on to the steam room “Lanconicum“, and lastly if you are brave enough to the “Frigidarium” with the two pools you see on the photo above (one pool 57 degrees an the other 50 degrees). Try to maximize your time and do at least three cycles, and take time to enjoy a cup of tea or water at the warm seating area between each of them.
AIRE Ancient Bath also offers a Propeller Jet Bath (97 degrees). A myriad of water streams act on your musculature to attain relaxation and prepare your body for the massage. But this are only some of the treatments and options available…
Open daily from 9AM till 11PM, highly recommended to book in advance. For more information, visit their website at www.ancientbathsny.com. Indulge and pamper yourself. CM @ Carlos Melia Recommends
