GPS Carlos Melia Grand Palace and Reclining Buddha | Bangkok , Thailand | Yesterday, under the blazing sun and heavy humidity of Bangkok, I was determined to visit for the third time in my life, two of my favorite landmarks of the city, which are the Royal Grand Palace, with the Emerald Buddha and just next to it, Wat Po where you will find the stunning Reclining Buddha.
The day began jumping on the BTS Train from Ekkamai in Soi 42nd Sukhumvit Line where I am staying at the amazing Baan Suk Chai B&B to Spahan Taksin Station. There I stopped for a little Street Food lunch which I absolutely love. Before taking the taxi onto the Grand Palace. (approx. 10 minutes)
Arrived at the Grand Palace (be careful with those standing outside and telling you that the main gate is on the other side trying to sell you fake tickets, or telling you that the Palace is closed, and willing to take you to other attractions). Cover to enter to the Palace is BHT 400 (approx. USD 15). Great way to spend your morning in Bangkok.
This is my third time to the Palace and every time I bring people here… I feel like it is my first time there too. The architecture, the colors, the traditions and overall the Emerald Buddha.
From there I moved next door to the Palace after a short walk at the market over the Chao Phraya River and a few bag of Pineapples and Strawberries, to Wat Po where you will find the famous and stunning Reclining Buddha image.
Just an incredible day exploring around some of the most iconic landmarks of Bangkok, before leaving tomorrow on the Orient-Express Train to Malaysia and Singapore. I still have almost a full month ahead of me in Thailand… so expect once again many more posts. Dinner was hosted last night at the new Issaya Siamese Club by renown Thai Chef and winner of the Iron Chef title Ian Kittichai, which was just amazing. But that is for another post. Today off to the Chinatown (the oldest in the world) and the Amulet Market. Cheers. Carlos Melia Luxury Travel Curator – www.carlosmelia.com
