Chez Nous Restaurant at Algodon Mansion | Buenos Aires, Argentina | Located in the main lobby area of the Algodon Mansion small luxury hotel in the neighborhood of Recoleta, you ask yourself in all fairness, is this a hotel with restaurant or a restaurant with a hotel. Tuesday night and Chez Nous explodes, on it own very classy and French/Argentinean charm. Executive Chef Antonio Soria and all his staff of professional ladies make it look professional and formal, but feel cozy, welcoming and interactive, sharing all their knowledge and comments to allow you a great gastronomic experience, where their goal is to foment a culinary revolution in Argentina.
The name Chez Nous suggests to me homemade cooking with intimate atmosphere in a French style environment, and combined with the reputation of being one of the only two Relais & Chateux restaurants in the city of Buenos Aires, guarantees and excellent experience matched to high culinary expectations. Chez Nous reinterprets traditional regional dishes with inspired French culinary techniques, taking Argentine gastronomy to a whole new level. Expect to pay rather high prices for the local offer, but when you know the final product and experience will be brilliant, it is worth doing it. My choices for the night matched by a Algodon Wine Reserve Chardonnay were Appetizer: (photo above) Brie with Polenta and petite vegetables Crispy Brie from Suipacha, scented salt scales, beetroots and mushroom loam, truffled organic polenta and mini vegetables from AWE (USD 21), Main Course: (photo below) Chez Nous Salmon Classic pacific pink salmon cooked at 51oC, black olive gnocchi, scallop foam and confit tomatoes (USD 33), Dessert: Imperata Cylindrica a pistachios sponge cake (USD 16).
Organic products, Argentienan classics with French culinary techniques in a very sophisticated, intimate and romantic atmosphere, complimented by the experience of Antonio Soriano who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu du París, and has previous experience at several Michelin star-rated restaurants such as Concorde Lafayette, el Hotel du Crillon, George V and Four Seasons Hotel Paris.
This was me last night, listening to Antonio Soriano share all his comments on the menu and his experiences as a Chef worldwide. In hand I had the iPad menus, which are becoming quite trendy in Argentina for the Wine Lists. And after dinner, move down to their Cognac Bar. where in addition to serving the finest cognacs, Frank’s features an outstanding selection of drinks from around the world, as well as a mixology menu specially crafted by Algodon’s Chief Bartender, Natalia Escudero, in collaboration with celebrity mixologist, Inés de los Santos. My I would give the whole experience a 9 points out of 10, due to the caustics of the room, that for moment can be a bit to loud, other than that I strongly recommend the ride.
