Victory Monument in Bangkok

Victory Monument in Bangkok  | Bangkok, Thailand  |  I was doing some research on the mini bus companies to take me from Bangkok to Hua Hin in two days, and I was told that most of the services depart from Victory Monument.  So I jumped on the BTS SkyTrain and got all the way down to Ratchathewi district. An  intersection among  Phaya Thai Road, Phahonyothin Road, and Ratchawithi Road. Erected June 1941 to commemorate the Thai victory in the Franco-Thai War. One more landmark and area to visit while in Bangkok.

No funny enough while I was there, something very weird happened, music started playing like and Anthem, and all the herd of people around me completely freezer for over one minute… ha ha ha and I did not know what to do. After that all went back to normal and the crazy mood of Bangkok reinstated. Five statues, representing surround the central obelisk. Executed by Italian Corrado Feroci, who called it – The Victory of Embarrassment, due to his dislike for the combination of his work with the obelisk.
At this area you will not only find the monument, but also the Victory Point Market. A small version of Patpong but mainly frequented by locals. So if you are into street food, you must visit this area. Carlos Melia Luxury Travel Curator – www.carlosmelia.com
