Morning chanting with Buddhist monks in Chiang Mai | Chiang Mai, Thailand | So this morning I decided to wake up very early (5AM) and head to the streets and temples of Chiang Mai to experience something, at least to me, unique and magical. I kept this special moment private and off the cameras, sorry….. but I can tell you that it was worth waking up so early and spending the time walking the streets of Chiang Mai, empty of tourists and waking up to the locals. One of those experiences that change the point of view of many things.
In Chiang Mai are over 500 Wats (temples) and only within the Old City you will find, at least, a hundred of them in the area of your hotel. So I walked by and chose the one I felt the most connected. After a while, they all started heading out of the temples and out to the streets, wearing their orange and/or red robes, barefooted and with a few metallic bowls on their hands, to collect the offerings of food and water. Many stores, although yet close, had dozens of bottles of water out on their main doors, as an offering to the monks. Highly recommended taking the time to experience it.
