Hotel Check IN Napasai by Orient-Express  |  Koh Samui, Thailand  |  Charming property on the Gulf of Siam, surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and beautiful white sandy beach, lined up with palm trees. Fourteen private Ocean Pool Residences, like the one I got and you can see on the video on this post, and fifty five Villas. I will be here only for one night, and this are my first impressions after spending the whole day at Napasai.

Residences and Villas, combine a contemporary and a traditional Thai style, which for some might look a bit outdated, if compared with other luxury properties in Koh Samui, but I truly enjoy. I would say it is a best suitable option for travelers on their late forties, couples or families. My private Residence, which was lovely, is built on a tree level format, with the bedroom on the upper floor, living room in the middle and private beach, cabana and infinity pool area in the ground levee with you own private access to the beach.
Now, stunning surroundings and views, great looking properties and friendly respectful staff, are a common variable in Koh Samui and Thailand overall, so which is the way to differentiate one property from the other. I would risk to say, all comes to service and overall experience. I am afraid to say that based on the Thai and Orient-Express standards of service,  Napasai falls a bit short on service, which in the end affects the overall experience. Lunch at The Beach Restaurant and dinner at Lai Thai Restaurant were  extremely slow and the final product to come to the table, although presented in a beautiful way, was not the best meal I have had in terms of Thai cuisine. Over thirty minutes for a starter, it is way too long, specially when catering to only 4 tables in total. Same situation at the main pool and beach area, where I waited for over 30 minutes to have someone approach me to provide with a towel, or assist me with some of the beach activities. Internet WiFi connection in general was slow, intermittent, to non existent, at least during my stay, but I must say that this is a struggle I had in more than one hotel around Thailand. As I always say constructive criticism over non-structural points, that can easily be corrected for a much better experience and congruence to the international Orient-Express standards.
