Hotel Check IN at Ritz-Carlton Phulay Bay Krabi | Krabi, Thailand | Yesterday I transferred from Phranang Beach to Phulay Bay by both boat and land (50 minutes approx.) to arrive at the stunning Ritz-Carlton Reserve Phulay Bay. This is my first time at a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, a new concept by Ritz-Carlton and the only one, at the moment, in the world. Also this is the only Ritz-Carlton property in Thailand, but not for much longer, since they will be opening soon in Bangkok. The minute you arrive to the hotel, you are stunned by purple colors that rule the design of the reserve. Purple for Thais means Royalty. But the best is to come upon your arrival to the main lobby.
The design is by renown Thai architect Lek Bunnag, and you can see his hand all over the landscape, rooms and common areas. There is a mixed style that I would define, without being an expert as, Morocco meets a little Japanese village in Okinawa and they all come into fusion in a very Thai way to compliment perfectly the views of Phulay Bay in Krabi. How about that? Water is one of the main elements in this hotel.
So I was upgarded to a Royal Villa, and my own personal butler greeted me at the main lobby and took me on a buckie (golf car) all the way staring to my villa, in a very seamless check in process. Privacy, design and views are everything, at this luxury resort that Ritz-Carlton has chosen to categorize as Reserve. The first things you will be amazed at this beautiful property are, the bathrooms, and the huge beds. I had a little incident with the internet WiFi, which my butler took care of without me even noticing. Four restaurants, a cool and hip beach bar, a fabulous Fitness Center and the spa by international wellness group ESPA, which I will try later on today. So stay tuned more to come.
Now I am off to Koh Hong Island, half an hour away from Phulay Bay. This tour is one of the courtesy activities by the hotel. That is the only concern about this hotel, the beach area is not the best, if you compare it with Phranang Beach, but they offer alternative to cope with that. Just keep in mind, not to be deceived, that beach is not their best attribute. (photo below is the view of Phulay Bay from my Royal Villa).
