Victoria Falls Zambian Side

Victoria Falls Zambian Side  |  Livingstone, Zambia  |  During my tour across Africa, I made it to the Victoria Falls or the indigenous name   Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders). Victoria Falls are shared by Zambia and Zimbabwe, linked by the Victoria Falls Bridge. The whole volume of the beautiful Zambezi River pours through the gorges. David Livingstone gave the falls the name ‘Victoria Falls’ in honour of his Queen. While it is neither the highest nor the widest waterfall in the world, it is claimed to be the largest. Listed as World Heritage.

I flew from Johannesburg into Livingstone in Zambia (approx. over 2 hours) on Airlink. And from there I was transferred by road to The Royal Livingstone hotel (AMAZING) over the stream of the Zambezi River and only 10 minutes walking from the entry to the Victoria Falls National Park. The Zambezi basin above the falls experiences a rainy season from late November to early April, and a dry season the rest of the year. The river’s annual flood season is February to May with a peak in April.

I must be fair…. specially being Argentinean, with our beautiful Iguazu Falls shared with Brazil. Having been to all Iguazu Falls, Niagara Falls and now Victoria Falls, I would rank them as my second favorite in the world. Also I quite enjoyed seeing them out of the flooding season, since I was able to walk over the border were the Zambezi River falls and forms before that, small pools where local people come to bathe and fishing.

Have you ever seen a DOUBLE Rainbow? unique right… it is hard to see one, but at the Victoria Falls with all the splash of water and the Zambian sun, forms unique natural phenomenons, only to be match by the beauty of the sunsets over the Zambezi River.
