Sunset at the stream of the Zambezi River | Livingstone, Zambia | 5,40PM at Zambezi Sunset Deck Bar of The Royal Livingstone Hotel in Zambia. There is nothing more soothing and relaxing than having a Savanna Dry Cider while reading my new book “The Elephants Whisperer” and watching the sun hide in the horizon of Africa over the Zimbabwean trees.
The mist for the Victoria Falls in the distance, the flapping ears and sounds from the Hippopotamus, and the beautiful sound from the flute of the local Zambian performer, who plays along the sunset. Nobody speaks a word, everyone watches mesmerized by the beauty of the natural spectacle before our eyes, when Africa goes dark and a new life emerges.
The Zambezi River, that rises in northwestern Zambia. Victoria Falls, is where it turns to form the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe before crossing Mozambique and entering the Indian Ocean.
This morning we sadly left Zambia and our outstanding hotel The Royal Livingstone. Next adventure will take us on a four lavish nights in Botswana, including the areas of Chobe and Okavango Delta. Four new camps/lodges, three of them, signature by Orient Express (Khwai River Lodge, Eagle’s Camp Lodge and Savute Elephant Camp). For this we will be taken by car to the border with Botswana and then onward to sail for to our first camp, the Chobe Game Lodge (aka. for those not familiar with it, the setting of Elizabeth Taylor second marriage to Richard Burton). Watch whats next. CM
