Bo Kaap Malay Quarters

Bo Kaap Malay Quarters  |  Cape Town, South Africa  |  One of the most picturesque areas of Cape Town. Formerly known as the Malay Quarter, it is quintessentially a Township, situated on the slopes of Signal Hill above the city centre and is an historical centre of Cape Malay culture in Cape Town. Cobble-streets and unique architecture.

Check out my set of photos taken during my morning walk across Cape Town. Some people say that the origin of the distinctive colors of the houses, is due to the lack of door numbers in the past. This was the only way to differentiate one house from the other. Located in the intersection of Wale and Buitengracht Street. Another landmark of Cape Town worth checking out . CM
