The Candlelit Vigil at Manchester Pride 2011

The Candlelit Vigil at Manchester Pride 2011  |  Manchester. UK  |  Last night I assisted, during the closing events of Manchester Pride 2011, to The Candlelit Vigil ceremony of Manchester Pride 2011, by George House Trust. A very emotional evening with very moving and touching speeches and performances, that make us remember that PRIDE is a moment to celebrate and be merry, but also the origin of PRIDE is to demonstrate LOUD and PROUD in favor to equality and rights.

The culmination of the Big Weekend is the George House Trust Candlelit Vigil in which Sackville Gardens is turned into a sea of flickering candles as we take a minute to remember those we’ve lost to the HIV virus and join together to fight the epidemic worldwide.

The Vigil is the spiritual heart of the Manchester Pride festival and there is a truly magical and moving atmosphere of quiet reflection in the gardens. Check the George House Trust website and if you can help them with you donations. CM
