Mixology Master Class at The Alchemist | Manchester, UK | What a better way to kick off your morning than with a mixology session by an expert international barman. Cheers for that and bottoms up right. Well 11AM and 4 drinks on me, but the merit is that I made them all myself. The Alchemist is located in the area of Spinningfields, downtown commercial Manchester. After this great class, I now understand that Drinks & Cocktails are a matter of art and alchemy.
A master class on how to prepare cocktails and the story behind them. The great part is that you both get to prepare your own and of course drink them. Our instructor was all the time very specific with the alchemy and the measures, teaching us the way a barman counts the milliliters of each fluid… but I must admit that my counting went very slow on the Vodka a few times, spicing up my drinks. Hey at least I am honest.
During our Mixology Class we prepare and tasted: White Cosmo, a frozen orchid bathed in vodka, St. Germain Elderflower liqueur, white grape juice, and lemon bitter. Passion Fruit Mojito, Bacardi Superior rum, passion fruit syrup, fresh passion fruit, lime juice and mint. Bloody Mary, Grey Goose vodka, Worcester sauce, Tabasco sauce, Maldon sea salt, lemon, cracked black pepper, tomato juice and celery.
And finally one of the signature drink of The Alchemist, the Smokey Old Fashion, Woodford Reserve, maple syrup, Jerry Thoma’s Bitters, oak smoke and ice ball. Let me tell you, that if you are not a big fan of Whiskey like me, this drink will turn you around, not only by the easy and sweet taste, but also by the way it is prepared and the smokey flavor in it.
Here I am shaking it together with Emma White from Visit Manchester. I strongly recommend the Mixology Class (25 Pounds per person including the drinks). Groups of 5 minimum and 10 maximum. They also take individuals to join other groups. Check their website below.
The Alchemist Restaurant & Bar Manchester is part of the Australasia Group, and offers a wide menu and multiple options all day long. To be mention is the Cocktail Lock In. Find out more at their website below. Cheers CM
